A196 heaved a half hearted sigh in her dreamless state. She smiled, but she wasn't sure why. Something felt like it was missing, but she couldn't figure it out, and so, she set it aside and snuggled back into her pillow. She gave a short mona, adjusted and turned for another 20 minutes before she could sleep no longer. A196 flopped onto her back and stared up at the white celling.
She propped herself back onto her elbows and heaved a small sigh. Her grey eyes adjusted slowly and she stared up at her surroundings. It was perfect here, simple but perfect, as if nothing was wrong. Well, something, but she'd probably never find it.
Eventually she rolled from her bunk changed and waited for him. He was around somewhere. Maybe she would surprise him. She knew where to find him, always. Slipping on her shoes and with a small bounce in her step she went to go find him in his sleeping chambers.

B594 awoke with a yawn, scratching his forehead as he sat up and threw the blankets off his legs. It was a new morning, a fresh day; a blank sheet of paper for him to decorate with music notes and lyrics. And she'd be his inspiration, as she always was, because she was beautiful and he cared about her.
At times he felt confused about why he cared for her as he did, feeling like he was supposed to feel this way for someone else, but he never voiced it to her. It would only upset her, and it would hurt him to see her upset. And so he kept his concerns and his doubts locked away, spending each day with A196 like it was his last.
In fact, if his ears weren't kidding him, it was her light footsteps coming down the hall that he heard now. B594 got to his feet and meandered over to the door, opening it just as she arrived and offering her a warm smile. "Hey there, beautiful. How are you today?"

A196 met B594 in a soft kiss to the lips. Short, sweet, nothing more. She clasped her hands in his and rocked on her heels, eyes sparkling. What would you like to do today? Take a walk? I think the flowers are blooming." She grinned up at him, feeling the butterflies flutter up inside her stomach. She couldn't remember why she felt like this for him, or even their first date, or kiss, just the fact that she did.
Some days, she wondered if something was missing, as if B594 wasn't....'it'. Maybe he wasn't her one and only prince charming, 'The one'. Something was...missing, but she wasn't sure what. As hard as she suppressed it, the feelings came back up. Did she even love the man before her? She sure acted like it, but..it was just..off.

When A196 kissed him, B594 didn't return it--however, he didn't pull away, either. He just accepted it. It was A196, after all, and he'd kissed her on countless occasions. Hadn't he? Sometimes he got the feeling that her hair was darker than it should be, but that was simply absurd. After all, he couldn't recall a time she'd ever coloured her hair red, so why was he imagining she must've?
Returning the pressure she applied to his hands when she took them, he offered her a genuine smile and pushed his concerns to the back of his mind. It was nothing to worry about now, not when she was clearly in such a good mood. When she was happy, he was. At least, that was how he thought it was supposed to go. Why was he so confused?
A196 spoke, and B594 tuned back in to listen to her. What did he want to do today? He thought about it, then shrugged. "A walk sounds charming," he agreed, smiling again. "Shall we go?"

A196 walked with him quietly, unsure of what to say really. She just felt so...so...confused. Was this what it was supposed to feel like? Love? Where was the passion, the desire, the wild intensity? Perhaps she was over-thinking. Such things shouldn't be thought here. It was simply...inappropriate. this place was so clean, so perfect and not a thing was where it shouldn't be. She looked up at B594, giving a faint smile and wondered if he too was wondering the same thing. Maybe..just maybe, if he was they could both go find the missing piece that was tearing them apart form the inside. But what if this was it? What if this was how it was supposed to be? If it was, why did it hurt so incredibly much. "The..the flowers are quite beautiful, don't you think?'

B594 offered A196 his arm, and together they strolled out into the garden, neither saying much. He could practically feel the uncertainty rolling off of her in waves, and he wondered if her thoughts were along the same lines as his. There was someone out there waiting for him, he thought--someone he loved, and who loved him, and who was more beautiful than anyone else he knew; even A196.
When she commented on the flowers, he glanced down at her. Her voice still carried traces of bitterness, and he knew that she was just trying to distract herself. It was for the best--he needed a distraction, too. "Not as beautiful as you," he said cordially, though the conviction left something to be desired.

Every second with him felt more wrong than the last. This wasn't supposed to be like this, and it never would be. A196 pulled her arm out gently out from his and looked up, apologetically. "Thank you." she whispered softly, knowing he was just saying that because he felt like he should. Just because she was beautiful, didn't seem to mean as much coming from his lips. The feelings weren't there, only the words.
"B94....something...something isn't right between us." Her voice quivered a little as she led him to a bench near the pond. "I have a feeling it isn't just me and my feelings dear." She took his hand in hers, giving him a light squeeze as she met his gaze. Sucking her bottom lip, she looked into him, searching for the problem in their hearts.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, B594 registered that it should have insulted him when A196 pulled her arm from his. Her apologetic glance added testimony to that. And yet, he felt oddly indifferent. Something about her arm in his had felt off, anyway. Maybe it had been the angle or something, but it just hadn't felt... right.
They walked on in an almost stilted silence after that, until her soft voice rose up. Her words made him pause, mildly confused, before she led them over to a bench on which he gladly took a seat. He looked down at their hands and she took one of his in both of hers, and stared for a long moment.
"I think... you're right," he said quietly, uncertainly. "Something... just doesn't fit. I'm not sure what it is, but... the way I feel about you isn't the way it should be. I don't think it ever was. Don't get me wrong, I care about you, just... not... that way." Hopefully she understood what he meant by that, even if the words were confusing to his own ears.

A196 nodded and exhaled slowly. "It's okay B594....I...I.." She sighed again a,d moved around to wrap her arms around him for a tight hug. She closed her eyes and tried to remember a past between them. There wasn't any, no memories whatsoever. They were not meant to be together and never would. "I'm sorry....I understand. Best..." A196 pushed up on her toes and kissed his cheek gently. "Best luck to you...wherever."
A196 looked up at him one last time, a small tear in her eye. She gave a faint smile and turned her back to him. One last, lengthy gaze over her shoulder and walked away from him. All she had felt she had ever known, she was leaving behind, and yet felt nothing about it. It didn't hurt walking away from him like this, because there was still a massive hole inside her heart he could not fill.
