Personality: Dee is a free spirit, to say the least. She is extremely loud and is always noticed when she walks into a room. While Dee has her moments, she prides herself on being extremely calm, which can also get her into trouble. People often get exasperated with her for being too easy-going.

History: From the time Dee was a baby, she was taught to love all things about nature by her hippie parents, who gave her an unconventional name in an attempt to heighten this awareness. She was a mostly normal child, but was always known as the “weird plant girl”. Instead of this hindering her popularity, it made her all the more desirable as a friend, especially through elementary and middle school.
In high school, she was still popular, but began partying and hanging around people who did various drugs. She only experimented a little bit, but those years definitely helped shape her personality. She definitely did her fair share of partying in college and graduate school, but because of her high IQ, it never inhibited her studies. Although she now considers herself to be straight, she had a girlfriend in college for a period of a little over a year. She also adopted the Jewish religion in her later high school years, but practices liberally. After high school she was accepted into NYU’s Environmental Studies program. She graduated in three and a half years and continued her studies by getting her PhD in Medical Nutrition Sciences from Boston University.
Since getting her degree, she has worked in different hospitals all over the world and the universe. She is highly respected for her research on natural medicine and is regarded as one of the leading women in science. She also is known to throw great parties and create fun, peaceful working environments. In her free time, she has been studying psychology and was given an honorary degree by Boston University, where she gave a commencement speech.
She has come to Venia to offer her services both as a doctor and as a social coordinator. She was sent in an effort to preserve some liveliness on the ship and to lighten up the sometimes-heavy mood that clouds the staff.

Kate sniffled and looked up at Addy, her eyes watering. "I tried calling her cell, her home phone, but she didn't pick up..." Kate's voice got quiet. "She always picked up." Kate looked away and closed her eyes, a couple tears falling down her face. Her voice gained volume again. "So I went over to her apartment to see if she was alright and the door was already open." It reduced to a loud whisper and she looked at Addy dead on. "I knew she was dead then. I knew it." More tears fell down her face and she quickly wiped them away, ashamed. She sniffled and tried to regain her composure, but her voice gave her away once more. "I walked inside and there she was...," her voice gained sporadic soft sobs, and she lowered her head to her knees and crumpled. "There was so much blood..." She fell to her knees on the patio and lowered herself down to the ground, sobbing. It was the nightmare she'd had so many times and woken up screaming from. The heavens chose that moment to open up and soak the two women.
