"Interesting? I would have traded my life for yours in a second. Living with these memories is not something I chose to have." Gordon chuckled slightly at her question about biotic, saying: "What? You never heard of biotic amplification before? From what I understand, biotic amplification was very popular with bulky dudes trying to huge. Nanomachines run through your body and act as enhancements to a normal person. I knew a few guys who could pass through walls and stuff, anti-matter manipulation, super strength, whatever. They geared me up with little buggers that aided in my manipulation of gravity." To prove his point, he motioned a hand towards the towel that lay on the rack, beckoning it to them. It moved off of the rack in compliance, landing next to Izzie. "Pretty good when you're in the middle of a fight. Even better when you want to get a book off a shelf and you don't want to get up and reach for it." He looked into her eyes, gazing on them for a moment before he asked: "What's making you burn inside? What's fueling that fire? Because there IS one there. I can feel it. I feel the same way."

Izzie pulled the towel into her lap, "that's pretty cool. Could have done with having you there when I was teetering on the edge of that building." She'd accepted that dancing wasn't her course in life, but she missed the joy it used to give her sometimes. "What makes me burn inside?" she repeated, having to think on that one for a couple of minutes. It was an interesting question, no one had really asked her that before. "I guess, I've always been determined and competitive; in competitions and at home. The determination was to do well in life, to be amazing like my mother. I suppose pride in myself and what I do is what really fuels that fire, whether it's teaching people how to take care of their bodies, how to be better fighters, or just pride in my own talent. Regardless of whether pride is supposed to be a sin. Lust is too, but that didn't stop us earlier." It was her turn to ask a question, seeing as they were bouncing them back and forth. "You said you were 'jumpy', and that you question everything? Why?" Obviously, it was something to do with his past, but she was interested to know what exactly.

"You HAD to ask that one, huh?" Gordon got up, rubbing the back of his head with his hand as he stayed silent, not wanting to answer the question. It was something that he hadn't talked about with anyone, not even Anna, the closest thing he had to a friend(no, scratch that, sister) he had. She had tried to talk to him about it, but he had shut her out, not letting her in, knowing that the answer was something he couldn't transmit in just words. And now a relative stranger, albeit one who with whom he shared a common bond with, was trying to delve into territory that he himself was scared to venture into. But he found words slipping out of his mouth, uncontrollable, like a roaring waterfall: "Abuse was common. Very common in my life. I gave it out and took it all my life. I was back stabbed and betrayed by everyone closest to me. My squadmates, my family, any kind of 'friend' I had when I was a child. It was all a series of..." He stopped midsentence, looking at Izzie with a mixture of emotions as he realized what he was telling her. Why did she even CARE about what he was saying? She had JUST met him! He could understand Anna's concern, but her? A stranger? No, she didn't care. She may not have lied about her job, but that could be a cover. For what though? He didn't know at this point, but...
You're making a mistake. YOU ARE! Trusting someone so soon! You know better than that She's different HOW DO YOU KNOW?! She cares. Look at her. She came all the way down here to talk to YOU of all people Yeah, but talk about my secrets? Why? Listen, if you want to mess this up, be my guest, but don't complain to me Shut it Fine
"I've been...betrayed..that's all." He pushed the drones over to the right side of the room before he spoke: "And that's all you need to know at this point."

But that wasn't all. It really wasn't. Not if what had just bubbled out of his mouth was really true. But now he was shutting her out. Okay, granted, they had known each other for the better part of an hour, so why spill to her? But why start and then stop? Was she really not trustworthy in his eyes? What had she done wrong? It irked her. Pushing the towel to one side, she rose onto her feet, looking down at him. "Someday, you'll trust someone enough to actually talk to them properly. Obviously, that person isn't me." What right she had to be angry, she didn't really know, not with his screwed up past. But if he wasn't going to talk to her, then she didn't really see the point in staying. "Enjoy your New Year," she told him, heading for the door. "If you want me, I'll be prancing in the gym, dancing instead of fighting."
