Alternates
Almost seven months since their mission first began, the crew finally make a break through in regards the science of the rifts. It has already been established that powerful, concentrated bursts of radiation cause the rifts to open, but the crew now know that as R4 opens each rift, energy flows into what can only be assumed is a parallel universe - havoc is wreaked on both sides of the rift.
This becomes evident when a rift opens - seemingly not by R4's design - and another version of the Venia is sucked through into their universe. The two crews meet on board the Venia and discuss how to get the alternate crew back to their own universe.
Essentially, this is a chance for you to explore different sides of your characters in the alternate versions, change them completely if need be, and see what happens when they meet.
You can start threads whenever you choose, but label them with 'Alternates'. A new plot will be posted at the end of January, when we begin to wrap up this chapter of Venia's plot.
Please feel free to discuss plot ideas below.

-rubs hands gleefully- Ooh, this sounds fun... Just a nagging thought, perhaps we should post a general overview of what the alternates are like, to give people an idea of who they'd want to post with? Silly brain ideas.

Well, I'll start, anyways. Maybe it'll become a trend XD If not, lots of bribery, I suppose.
Katy Tyler: Pretty much the same. She and the original Katy will chum up quite well, most likely.
Ollie Pratt: Not part of the crew; was picked up on Earth after being stranded in the middle of the ocean during an underwater rift. Gave up science to stay and fish with his dad, but feels like he gave up something when he did so.
Julia Elkins: Deceased; was killed in the shifter attack by the overzealous shifter taking her form. This leaves the original Julia quite shaken up, needless to say.
Zoe Robinson: Now in the position of Chief Science Officer. Took after her family and went into sciences instead of linguistics; status with Sam O'Conner unknown.
Lol, that got pretty out-of-control. Fix as you see fit.

Well...
Sam: Is a bit of an ass. His Mum stuck around, taking him back to Earth after Keith's death to raise him in LA. This didn't really do him any good. He dropped out of school and became an entrepreneur. He's worth over a billion credits.
Will: Still has both of his parents, a complete geek.
That's all I got so far xD I'll come back and update it.

Ally grew up in a loving household, with her twin brother Charlie. He doted on her, and still does as much as she can. Rebecca: Rebecca from the other 'verse it...surprisingly normal, actually. Both of her birth parents are still alive and well, Hanna took over their father's boating business, Isabel went on to be an orchestral musician, and Rebecca herself followed her father's footsteps and became a police officer.
Before being assigned to the Venia as a liaison specifically tasked with interrogation and assisting in investigations, Rebecca had a long, decorated career in law enforcement, going from uniform to detective, detective to the UGAP Bureau of Investigation, where she's remained for almost a decade. She married early, at eighteen, to a one Seamus Finley, has two children, an eighteen year old daughter, Carmen, who is now in college, and a sixteen year old son, Anthony, no piercings, no tattoos, a whole lot less scars, the most notable being a Caesarean section from a late-term miscarriage, and much less of a fascination with alcohol. Thanks to more time spent around her father, she still carries a New Zealander's accent. She's also, as the Rebecca of this universe would say, cheery.
She still can't cook worth beans, though.

If allowed...
TEMP is actually a human by the name of Thelma Ellis Morris-Proctor. She is actually the captain of Venia and wouldn't be trusted with a sonicscaple as she has no experience as a medic. She is highly decorated within her field hence her posting on the Venia.
