Name:Katherine Tyler
Nickname: Katy, Kat, whatever else comes to mind
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Age/Birthday: 24/February 27
Race: Human
Place of Birth/Home Town: Delta Prime/New New York
Character Portrayal: Elisabeth Sladen
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Pale green
Height: 5'4''
Individual Features: A few minute scars, but nothing really distinguishing
General Appearance:
Family: Mother (Donna), Father (Mark), Older brother (Kevin, 26)
Friends: Natalie Fairholm, Ciara Gallagher
Enemies: none, so far...
Job: UGAPPF (United Government of Allied Planets Police Force) Squadron Leader, Surface Contact
Personality: Katy is your average rebellious woman-- bold, brash, and not afraid to speak her mind, which clashes with authority when the need arises. Growing up with a brother, she knows how to take care of herself, and prefers not to have anyone help her in that area. Despite this, she prefers having someone to chat with as she runs around after these rifts, as she's quite a people person. She loves her job, simply because it requires her to have an open mind, and deal with the impossible. It's way funner that way. She does have a soft side, especially for people less fortunate than her, but prefers to cover it with her brash exterior. It will rise to the top in a crisis, though, or maybe when she's relaxed enough. She loves to laugh, and is of the opinion that life is to be lived, loved and laughed at.
Likes:
-Traveling: Exploring new and amazing things is a joy of hers.
-Laughing: It's proven to be good for your health and stress levels, plus it makes things so much happier.
-Running around: She ran around the city with her brother as a small child, and still does it to burn off steam.
-Being in charge of her own life: Independence is an important value.
-Friends: She feels her most relaxed around people she knows, and loves hanging out with them.
-Art: Being a New New Yorker, she is an art junkie, whether it may be the best bands in the clubs, touring art galleries, or catching a Broadway show.
Dislikes:
-Bureaucratic red tape: It's annoying, and gets in the way of everything, often stalling good work.
-Boredom: She's always had a problem with sitting still, and likes having something to do constantly, before the nothingness drives her crazy.
-Group-ist people: Her reason for getting into policing was to give everyone fair treatment, and people who don't tend to tick her off.
-Peanut butter: She enjoys peanuts themselves, but the butter-stuff tastes processed to her. Plus, it's sticky to the point of glue-like abilities.
Fears:
-Drowning: She grew up in the city, and didn't swim all that much. She can, due to training, but she still doesn't like it.
-Hurting others: She's scared she'll do something wrong at the expense of others, which would make her feel incredibly guilty.
History: Katy was born on Delta Prime, in the heart of New New York. She grew up a city girl, wandering the streets at a young age, no fear of the traffic or maze of grid-like streets. Her older brother often joined her, and together they made quite a team, teaming up with other local kids to discover newly abandoned buildings to turn into a playhouse. They never really got in trouble for it-- her parents were at work most of the day, and the police had better things to do. School, though, was a different story-- despite her high grades, she often was sent to the principal's office for misconduct, back-talking, or various other hijinks. She managed to keep herself under control, though, and to everyone's surprise, enlisted in the police academy, to try and uncorrupt a basically debunked system and help others. She excelled in her training, acing both practical and science exams. She was accepted on an exchange program to Earth, much to her delight, and met two close friends there, Natalie Fairholm and Ciara Gallagher. Afterwards, she applied to the UGAPPF, and they were so impressed that they gave her a squadron to lead. The Venia recruiters enlisted her to be a contact, to be an insider in the ways of UGAP and Delta Prime, and make their job easier. She readily accepted.
Random Facts: She picked up a few habits from Nate, and is now a certified vintage junkie. She collects old movies, keeps jazz records, and with a lot of work, managed to modify an old Enfield revolver, which she considers her pride and glory. It now has 'stun', 'knock-out' and 'lethal' setting, instead of the one 'metal hole in body' previous arrangement.
RP Sample: An alarm buzzed. Kate grumbled, and rolled over in her nest of blankets and pillows. An arm emerged, and came crashing down on an alarm clock. The buzzing continued.
I really need to get separate buzzers for all my stuff, she thought grumpily as she untangled herself from her cocoon, blinking blearily. She fumbled for the annoying sound, and her hand eventually came to a rest on her buzzing phone. She picked it up, pressed the talk button, and grunted a greeting.
"A rip opened up 02 minutes ago," a grounded voice informed her. It was her superior in the task force. "We need your squad down there to evacuate the area. The Venia will be here shortly to assist you." The line clicked.
Katy grumbled, and got to her feet, swaying. Nate had better have some coffee she could share when she got here.
