Essentially, this is just a piece of writing to tie up what exactly happened between
Will and Anna in the beginning, where they stand as regards one another.

Venia
5th July 2461
The Venia was barely a month into its first mission and already it had been drama, drama, drama pretty much non-stop. The crew had been thrown together in various situations already and people were already beginning to form friendships and relationships. Will was generally feared amongst his staff, but there was one person he had been able to talk with, and that was Anna, the crazy, red-headed, Scottish Chief Tactical Officer.
He'd originally had apprehenisons against interacting with her. Military types were usually unamusing and often brutish, but Anna, not so much. She seemed to have a head on her shoulders, which was rare for someone in her line of work, but much appreciated, by him at least. He wasn't quite sure what they had going on between them, but, it worked.
Anna loved to wind Will up. He could be cocky, and obviously thought a lot of himself, so knocking him down a couple of pegs was something Anna took great delight in. He could fend her off quite well with comments of his own, and that made it all the more fun. She had a vivacious and teasing nature anyway, but it seemed to come out more when Will was around.
A couple of days previous, she'd spent a couple of hours bleeding to death in the Earth Embassy on Delta Prime with just Ally for company. When she'd come back, Will had instantly been there to check whether she was okay. He was concerned, that was clear to see, but Anna couldn't decide exactly why. Was their teasing leading somewhere or were they just friends? They needed to talk.
Will was, of course, easy enough to find. He spent nearly all his time in engineering; fixing, tinkering, building, whatever he could find to do. He was under the warp reactor console fiddling with some wires when Anna poked her head underneath it. "Boo."
Will jumped, dropping the wires and kicking his legs out involuntarily, "Jesus."
"You can call me Anna."
He shook his head at her, jabbing his spanner towards her which make her leap backwards then wince in pain. He'd forgotten that she was currently in bandages.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, peering at her as she came closer again, kneeling down beside him.
Anna shrugged her shoulders, "I dunno."
He raised a brow. "Uh-huh."
She rolled her eyes, "fine. I've been meaning to ask you about something. And I haven't seen you tear anyone's head off recently, so I figured it was safe to go ahead and ask it."
"Ask me what?" he said, curious.
A frown clouded her expression and she looked slightly... embarrassed. "Do you like me?"
Will's eyebrows shot up. "Do you really want an answer to that question?"
"I mean, in that way," she fumbled with her words, "because, I dunno, I just... I'm not good at spotting these things, and I didn't want to make a complete fool of myself."
"I'd say you're part way there."
"Shut up."
He shrugged, "no more speaking from me."
Anna sighed, internally and externally. "Will." She folded her arms across her chest and fixed him with a stare.
Shaking his head slightly, he slid out from under the console and sat up, looking at her. To be honest, he hadn't been quite sure, but now that she was asking...
"No, not in that way," he said, honestly, "but I don't not like you. And that's more than I can say for most people."
Anna nodded. She was entirely fine with that answer. "So, friends, yes?"
"A friend that bugs the hell out of me, yeah," he said with a slight smile.
A grin crept onto her face, "more like an annoying little sister."
"If that's what you want to believe," he said, "then you can bugger off and leave your older, wiser brother to work."
She let out a laugh, "just this once," she smirked, "I will."
"Good, now vamoos. Go play with your dolls or something."
"While you play with your tools," she said, climbing to her feet, "how fitting."
He snorted, "bye Annie."
Anna looked back at him for a moment with a surprised expression on her face, barely anyone used that nickname for her. It was one that she'd imagined her family would have used for her if they'd been closer, but never had. Hearing it come from someone's mouth, more so Will's was... well... nice.
"See you, Will."
