The whole alternate reality shift had put Ally on edge. Her biggest fear had been running into alter Luke or worse - herself. She had already met alter Anna, and she looked down upon her as if she was some sort of freak show. Her alter self would probably be unpleasant as well, but in a completely different manner, she was sure of it. The best plan was simply avoiding it all. And that was exactly what she intended to do.
After passing a few unfamiliar faces as well as judgmental glances, Ally took one of her books as well as a mug of hot tea and headed towards the common area. She sought out the furthest corner and snuggled in with the blanket she had tossed over her shoulder from her room. She wasn't exactly busy this point in time and so she was blessed with some extra free hours, if not days, to spend avoiding the alternate world and relaxing.
Ally flipped to her bookmark and pulled her legs into the chair. She reached for her tea and saw a figure slump down from the corner of her eye. Now was a great time to put her headphones in, especially when whoever is was exhaled a deep and heavy sigh. All she wanted was to be left alone and out of it all.

Well, the rumours about the Venia were true: all sorts of crazy stuff happened on board. Luke hadn't expected anything to happen while he was on board, hitching an interesting ride to Delta Prime thanks to a friend of a friend. He was heading there to perform in several clubs and bars - one of his younger sisters, Jen, was already out there and they were going to duet live for the first time, needless to say, their fans were excited. But before he could get there, a rift opened up and poof, he was now wandering around an alternate version of the Venia, thinking this would be a weird story to tell when he eventually met up with Jen.
Deciding to remove himself from the bustling corridor, he side-stepped into the common room -- safety at last. Walking over to the sofa, he flopped into it and heaved a sigh, letting his hands fall into his lap. Twisting his wedding ring round and round his finger, he glanced over at the woman in the corner. She looked sort of familiar. "Hey," he said, his usual amalgamation of American and Australian accents still present, "you're the science officer, right? Alliana?" So, there were duplicates of people. Strange. He wondered if another version of himself was around here somewhere.

Why hadn't she actually pressed play on her ipod yet? She pulled one plug from her ear, then the other slowly at his voice. With a small sigh of defeat, she nestled her bookmark tightly into the book's pages and slid it onto the table. In an almost dramatic way, she pulled her head up slowly, meeting his gaze. His eyes were still beautiful and blue but there was something else in them, if not someone else. He wasn't her Luke. Her's would've tackled her on the couch in tickles and sweet kisses.
Ally cleared her throat for a moment, and the thick accent slipped out. "Uhh...yeah. Luke Martin....but I have a feeling you're not the pilot here." She reajusted herself on the chair again,, pulling it over her barefeet after it had slipped a little. She was somewhat curious about this other Luke but didn't want to prod too far. Just the thought of seeing him with another woman wrenched her heart as well as her stomach.

Luke chuckled slighty at what she said. "Flip flops give me away, huh?" He eased himself forward slightly in the chair, sitting up properly as opposed to remaining in his reclined position. If he was actually going to have a conversation, he might as well look interested. "Yeah, I'm Luke, ut I'm just hitching a ride on the Venia to Delta Prime for a few gigs. I'm the pilot here? Wow." He'd decided to leave education after High School, giving up any of his dreams of working in space. "Guess this guy's pretty cool then."
Nodding slightly to himself, he looked around the room before looking back at her, "do you know him well? Or just in passing or something?" He could only really hazard a guess. He didn't really know the crew at all, so he couldn't say who was with who or whatever. He'd only seen Alliana once or twice, she'd been a lot less conservatively dressed, and had a habit of flirting with most, if not all, of the good looking guys on board - and there were a lot of them.

Ally watched his position stiffen a little, as if he was actually making at effort for conversation. Why did it have to be her? With a small sigh, she herself sat up a little and forced herself to show some initiative.
"Yeah...you're the pilot here and a damn good one at that." she chuckled, showing confidence in her lover. She was glad she got the chance to talk about him so highly, not that he wasn't spectacular enough already. "He's a really great guy." Ally felt herself blush a little. He was far more than great, especially great in bed, not that two times could fully support that.
His next question caught her slightly off guard but she almost knew if was coming. "We're um...we're together...in a relationship, romantically." It felt so weird telling him that she was romantically involved with his alter self, especially since she had the feeling this Luke was not with her alter self.

Okay, so his alter-self and Alliana were definitely something more than just acquaintances, that was clear to see from the way she talked about him, with admiration, and dare he imagine it, love? "Good to know," he said, "that at least one of us made all his dreams come true." Luke didn't necessarily live a bad life, he enjoyed his work, the concerts, etc. But it was nice to know he had gone on to do great things in another Universe.
"Oh really?" he said, raising his eyebrows as she confirmed his suspicions, "well, that's great." This conversation was becoming strange, and he wasn't sure how much she wanted to know about what the other Universe was like, but he certainly wasn't with her there. Change of topic. "I'm a musician," he explained, "I was supposed to be on my way to Delta Prime to meet Jen, I assume Luke," weird, "still has two sisters in this 'verse?"

Luke had made many of Ally's dreams come true but the Luke didn't need to know that. She almost gelt as though she should keep her personal life...well, quiet from him. He knew is alter self was romantically involved and that seemed to be enough. She was still torn between asking about her alter self. The fear kept battling with the edging curiosity.
He confirmed that he also played guitar so it seemed the Luke's weren't too different after all. "The Luke also plays. You e got a lovely voice." she smiled back. It was hard not to flirt with him, because he was so much like her own, but based on his responses, he must've been mucked up somehow by this other Alliana.
"Yeah, Jen and Georgie. Both lovely girls, I met them at Christmas...not...not that they're the same in any way, but Jen does also play guitar." This conversation was only getting more and more awkward with every word. It wasn't their fault, or anything they said, but simply the turn of events and how fate had planted them.

It was strange sitting here with Alliana, but however weird it was for him, it had to be even more so for her. After all, she was completely head over heels for his alter-self, and yet she had to sit here with someone who had his face, but not the same feelings. Maybe he should go. "Thanks," he said, with as sincere a voice he could manage. He put his hands on his legs, "I'll let you get back to your book," and rose from the seat. "It was nice meeting you. I hope you and... Luke are happy in the future." The sentence was a bit stilted, but it worked. With a final smile, he hastily made his way out of the room. He was staying on the other Venia from now on.
How he was getting away with reading in the middle of the flight deck, he really had no idea. It must have been something to do with the Captain being away talking to members of the other crew, and the largely absent flight deck staff. Zoe was somewhere behind him, he could hear her chortling about something, a message from Sam no doubt. Either way, she wasn't going to call him up on not doing his job. He'd been reading the new leather bound books that Ally had got him for Christmas almost non-stop since he'd got back on board. They were fantastic quality, and he loved the authentic feel. He'd cherish them forever.
Hearing the door swish open, he quickly stuffed his book into his lap, looking up at the main viewing screen before craning his neck round to see who had entered. Turned out, he needn't have panicked. "Hey," he said, waving Ally over, "I didn't expect to see you here."

Ally pressed her lips into a faint, soft smile as he thanked her. He was friendly, but the awkwardness just radiated and thickened in the air. She would have to visit her Luke this afternoon to make up for the lack of affection. She could tell from his body language that it was awkward for him too. When he offered to leave, Ally at least saw it as her duty to shake his hand. Luke's alter self seemed more of a brother type to her than a lover anyway. "Thanks..you..too. Wherever you are. Good luck with the music." Ally watched him take his leave from the room, and gave a short sigh, burying her nose back inside her book. There was so much fresh meat on board, or at least it seemed that way to Alliana. There were dozens more cute men she had never even seen before, than on her own ship. This was definitely more exciting than she had originally thought. The Sam guy was pretty cute, but he was unfortunately tangled up with someone else...or so it seemed from the looks he was giving that one blonde girl. Despite it all, she was actually growing bored. Although there were plenty of cute guys, none she was really willing to lock lips with.
Out of curiosity, she headed down the corridor towards the flight deck. Part of her just wanted to meet everyone. When she arrived at the deck, she pressed on the door, and it opened with a small hiss. There was a small woman, chatting it up with someone on her monitor, and a very attractive fellow lost in a...book? Who the hell even read books anymore? It only got better. He seemed to be pleased with her presence and waved her over. With a slow grin, Ally walked in slowly, eyes intently ito him. Her eyes were much bluer than her alter self and rather than exposing skin for tattoo's, she just exposed skin. So...if it all made sense in her mind, her Alter self was romantically linked to this Venia's Luke..if that was his name. Luckily for her, she was nowhere in sight.

Luke's eyes couldn't help themselves, wandering up and down her body as she approached. "Felt like dressing up today?" he enquired, not complaining. It wasn't like he didn't like seeing her skin, it just wasn't what she'd usually wear to work. He returned her grin, casting a glance around before slipping his book onto the console and twisting his chair round as a gesture for her to sit down. Zoe wouldn't mind, or tell.
Allowing himself a closer look at Ally, there was something about her that felt different, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. She hadn't opened her mouth to speak yet, but that wasn't particularly unusual, she was quite quiet when she wanted to be. Maybe it was just the way she was wearing her hair, or she could quite possibly have been wearing more make up. Yeah, that was it. "Got some time off?" he asked, thinking it was a little odd for her to be up here in the middle of afternoon. Then again, he hadn't seen her since yesterday morning, so he didn't know what she'd been up to, or whether she'd talked Ollie into letting her have some time to herself.

"Just one of those days." she replied with a smirk. It seemed her alter self wasn't into dressing up. She was probably a homely slob. Her actions had'nt gone unnoticed, and she sauntered over to him, choosing to sit on his lap, rather than the extra chair. He probably wound;t mind. She cast a glance at the other woman, not recognizing her from her own ship, as she wrapped her arms around Luke's neck. This was all too easy.
He seemed to be studying her a little, trying to figure her out. What kind of lame women was he into? Smirking again, she leaned into the chair more, massaging the back of his neck. She would ull on make out with him if the moment arose. "yeah...I think everyone's duties are a little lax right now..you know, alternate world and all." Her accent was dulled a little, and not as heavy as her other twin. Her hair had been put up more extravagantly, her eyes a little bluer and plenty more make up. Men were stupid, this she knew, but she didn't know how very different she was.

Ally sitting in his lap wasn't really a huge surprise, she had done it before, just not usually when someone was in the room. He took it as a sign that she was becoming more comfortable with public displays of affection. That was definitely a good thing. "Just one of those days for a guy is putting on a new pair of jeans," he smirked back, "piloting the ship in a dress might make for some interesting looks." He knew that didn't really have anything to do with what she'd said, but he couldn't help slipping a joke into the conversation, it was natural.
"You're not kidding," he said, liking the feel of her fingers against the back of his neck. "The ship is a ghost town, what with people going back and forth. It's strange, no one from the other ship has made their way up here yet." He would have thought the Captain would have been back by now, maybe with the Captain of the other ship. Looking into her eyes, she looked so alive. He'd never noticed how vivid the blue of her eyes were before. It was almost like he was entranced.

She wasn't sure if her other self was so forward, but he didn't seem to be complaining so she must've been doing something right. His joke was less that amusing, but she felt as if she had to laugh for the whole effect. Luke really wasn't that funny. She had to remind herself that this guy was merely just one sexy target to hold her over. It had been far too long since she had kissed someone and he was putty in her hands.
"Well...I was just wandering around avoiding it all and I knew I'd ind you here." she blatantly lied. In all honesty, she had no idea she'd find such a gem here...well...sort of. With a small sigh, she wrapped both arms around his neck, staring deep into his eyes. If she played this right, she'd be making out with him in no time. Hopefully he wouldn't notice that she wasn't the love of his life.

Luke nodded at what she said. He was always here. It wasn't like he had anywhere else he could be really, the ship needed it's pilot, even if it was just to input co-ordinates or routes into the computer. Mostly he liked to be at his station just in case anything unexpected happened, like a random alien attack, then he'd be able to do something about it within seconds of something going wrong. And he was a damn good pilot. Otherwise he wouldn't have been on this ship, he would have been somewhere else, flying any other vessel.
Looking at Ally, sitting in his lap, he could still sense that something was different with her, but he just put it down to the change in appearance. Brushing a tousled hair behind her ear, he smiled at her. And without another moment's hesitation, reached up to kiss her on the lips.

Finding Luke certainly made her day better. the other one on her ship was already married and sang too much. he bored her..a lot. But then again, this one wasn't much more fun either. Hell with it, at least he was interested in her, and he was still cute, if not cuter. His eyes definitely sparkled enough. If she was a different sort of woman who liked his type, maybe she'd be a better person. But she wasn't, that was for sure.
Her plan seemed to work as Luke edged his face closer to hers. She could feel his hot breath on her lips and lust took control. She smirked dangerously and closed the space in between the two of them. Ally took control and pushed further into his lips, deepening the kiss she was so blindly hungry for.
Timing was everything. Ally had grown tired of her book and after seeing the alter Luke, she remembered she hadn't stopped to see her own. Zoe never usually seemed to mind. She didn't fluff off the pda for her. In fact, usually she was just there to keep company. Zoe probably knew Luke and Ally were in love, but she didn't push the awkwardness. She had felt the feeling before, and Zoe most certainly didn't deserve it. After placing her books and music player back in her room, she headed off with a smile to find Luke. She gave a small sigh and pressed on the sliding door. It hissed, sliding open and Ally's jaw hit the floor.
"Luke?....Who the hell is she?"
