Luke liked to keep in shape. Ever since he'd started college, he'd started putting on muscle instead of being skinny, and had kept his body in pretty good shape ever since. After using the weights, he was practicing his boxing, using an AI representation of a boxer to fight against. If he got hit, he would hear a buzzing sound, and he'd know that he'd lost to a computer. Not exactly what he wanted. That would suck.
He got in a good few swings before tripping over the edge of the mat, the AI hitting him several times in succession. "Damn it." He took a moment to recover then unleashed his wrath on the thing, taking it down and knocking it out and sending the animation crashing to the floor before it disappeared. "Ha." He pulled the gloves off, and grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat from his face, before looking round, realising someone was in the doorway. "Hello there," he said with a smile.

Alliana found her way around the ship, sort of aimlessly searching the place. After slumping her backpack into her sleeping quarters, and shrugging off her jacket, she found her way into the work out room. She wasn't alone. There was a rather attractive man, beating the daylights out of an AI system. She sort of lost her breath in her lungs and stood there, staring like an aimless fool, mesmerized by him.
Sure she had been chased by boys in high school, college, but she never really gave any of them a chance. Being a tease, and a pain in the ass seemed like so much more fun, so she never even tried for a relationship. His voice broke through her thoughts and she had to try to remember how to speak again. "Oh...hey...Hi...I..I'm new on board." She had to mentally kick herself for her stutter. of course she was new. He had never seen her before, so that would certainly count as a fresh face.

Luke's smile spread into a grin, and he chuckled as she stuttered, "I figured," he said, giving her a once over. She had to be one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen, and that was saying something. The fact that she was breathtaken about him though made him want to laugh. Please, like he was anything special in the looks department. Decent, not amazing, in his opinion anyway.
"I'm Luke," he said, "the ship's pilot. I'd shake your hand but you'd probably recoil in disgust." He meant the sweat, and the fact that he was really hot after going toe-to-toe with the difficult program AI. "How about you?"

"Alliana..Porter.." she grinned back. His smile was contagious and she flat out couldn't help it. That and he was Australian, which automatically made her feel more comforted, almost more at home. She chuckled as he spoke, already intruiged.
"I have no bloody clue what I'm supposed ta do heah. Just sorta signed up." she shrugged with another laugh, now biting her lip. He left her speechless and that was unusual. It was the eyes, the smile. What the hell was happening to her? She extended her hand anyway, just wanting to touch him, just to see if he was for real. "Oh no worries, I don't mind..that..that you're hot..I mean sweaty...you're not disgusting." Ally, you idiot, can you not form a bloody sentence?"

"Don't worry, the government didn't give any of us really much of a clue as to what we were supposed to be doing here anyway," he smiled, "I just make sure this thing stays in the air." He often played down how technical it was to fly one of these aircraft. For years he had been the smartest one and people had known it, now he played dumb, it somehow got him further - socially. Stupid really. But if the world ever made sense, then they'd be in trouble.
He took her hand and shook it, stifling laughter with another grin. "Hot and sweaty, wicked combination, huh?" he was beginning to tease her now. Hopefully that wouldn't completely silence her, he loved hearing someone with such a strong accent from home. He'd missed having that arround. "As opposed to you who is clean, not sweaty, but still hot. I think you got the better deal." Hey, all out flirting. That didn't take long. He let go of her hand, "think you can manage what job you do on board the ship? Speaking in full sentences is entirely possible in presence, I promise."

"The Government and I don't exactly get along. I'm too much for them ta handle. Thought maybe I'd join...clean up my files." she joked, still holding onto his hand. Sh looked down and noticed she was still clinging, so she pulled back, reluctantly. He was a pilot. As much as he tried to dumb it down, he couldn't. She had taken an aerospace class in college, and she understood most of the technicality. She was smart, too smart, just didn't act like it.
had he just called her hot? The blush couldn't hide, and she gave an adorable laugh. "Well thank you, not really used to hearing that. It's usually, 'ow, that hurts, uncle." she teased back. His accent wasn't as thick, but it was still there. He had most likely lived in the states longer, whereas she had just recently been after college. "Not sure..Science probably. I'm sure I could be of some medical help, but my stomach isn't as good as my brain. I don't do well in surgery."

"Admirable cause," he said, "although, telling people like the Captain you joined to help with the mission, might go down a bit smoother." That would have been fun to watch, if she'd said that to the Captain. He was good enough guy, but he took this seriously, and that sentence coming out of her mouth in his presence would go down a storm. With hail, thunder and lightening. He didn't judge though. That was the most interesting answer he'd had to that question all week.
Luke actually laughed this time, "if I'm the first one to observe that fact, then I need to start giving the rest of the guys out there lessons in how to flirt." He smirked, figuring it probably wasn't true. Girls like that didn't not get complimented, that would be ridiculous. "I thought machines did most of the surgical stuff these days," he said, tossing his towel over into his bag, before grabbing his bottle of water, rehydrating himself a bit. "So, you're the brains then," he smiled. Got the brains and the good looks.

"I'll keep that in mind when I meet him." she smiled back. "I intimidate a lot. I don't play nice often, so I guess they're too scared to tell me." However, she didn't intimidate him, nor was he scared of her. This was improvement. He was good at flirting, because she was blushing. Her words failed, and she couldn't keep her eyes off of him. He was irresistible right now, and she couldn't figure out if he was in her league or not.
"They teach you anyway in college. Hands on first and foremost. That's when I knew that a medical field was not for me." Alliana watched his every move, muscle, flinch, as he grabbed his towel and reached for his water. "Oh..ha..yeah..I guess you could say that. Top of my class at Harvard. Graduated with a BA in Biology. Kinda drawn to..every..everything that breathes."The last part was sort of directed at him. He seemed interested in her, and she was equally attracted. Rather than leaving her speechless, he had turned on her talk box, and she wasn't in the mood to shut it off quite yet.

"Scared of you?" he chuckled. Wow. He'd seen scarier things in his life than he ever imagined Alliana could be. "I don't scare easily," he said, "so you don't have to worry about intimidating me." Even if she tried now, he'd probably just laugh. He imagined if they'd got off to a different start, maybe it would be different. But he was bullied for a long time, and when he realised that he didn't have to be a victim anymore, everything changed.
"Everything? Guess that doesn't make me any more special than anything else then," he teased. All the breathless stuttering was... he didn't even know. Women never usually acted this way around him. Sure, they got flirty, but Alliana seemed sort of overwhelmed. It was flattering, but felt a little weird. He wasn't used to that sort of attention. "Ditto," he said, "except it was top of my class from Princeton, and I studied Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering. By all rights I should be fixing this thing, not flying it." However, his life the turn towards him becoming a pilot, and he had accepted that a long time ago.

Alliana delicately placed a few strands of hair behind her ear, still hovering close to him. She was like a moth to a light with him. "That's exciting. You're good looking and smart too." There, now it was out that she found him attractive. There was no going back. "But you aah, flying it so you've got quite the responsibility." she smirked dangerously back, now feeling confident enough to flirt back.
This was going surprisingly smoother than she thought. Maybe she was just getting ahead of herself, but she was glad he was going to make this job more enjoyable. His was a face she wouldn't mind seeing everyday, 24/7.

Luke took a long gulp of the water, then pulled the bottle away and grinned. "Glad the feeling is mutual," he said, putting his bottle down. "Yeah," he agreed, "guess all you guys are relying on me not to get us all lost in deep space, or stranded in an asteroid field or whatever." Especially if it was a live one - ie. the asteroids were man-made mines set to act as an obstruction to any unfriendly life.
He returned her smirk, then said, "I take it you did come to the gym for a reason before I distracted you. Unless, of course, you were roaming the halls for good looking men." He grinned, playing up his cheeky side now. She definitely didn't seem like a girl that would be put off by it, and that was great. He'd much rather they played along than just giggled.

"I'm counting on that." she teased back, almost tempted to reach out and touch his sweating muscles. She hovered lightly, still biting her lip. It was usually an adorable turn on, and with all the flirting, she knew she was hard to resist.
For once, she was just genuinely attracted to someone. Something inside of her just wanted to get to know him, what made him tick. "I came because I'm just checking tha place out. Givin' myself a tour. Maybe I stopped because I saw something I liked...." She returned his cheeky vibe, flirting giving him the tease he seemed to want.

Uh oh, the lip bite. Luke smirked to cover up the fact that it was having its intended effect. He was pretty sure she was doing it on purpose to some extent. Where had she come from? It was almost like a miracle to find a good looking Aussie woman on board the ship. Of course, there were other women on board who were interesting, him and Natalie had been talking quite a bit.
"Well, that AI was pretty buff for a computer simulation," he grinned and laughed at himself. He knew what she meant, but he was almost constantly teasing people - it came from his family set up, they were nearly almost teasing each other mercilessly all the time. It kept them quick witted and alert. "Not that I'm that way inclined."

He noticed. She watched him notice. It was selfish and probably rushed, but every second she was in his presence, she wanted to tackle him down and have her way with him. With a small sigh, she shoved her hands in her back pocket and rose her grey eyes to him again.
"Then...maybe..maybe you could teach me to use it sometime, unless you're old fashioned like me?" she teased, punching him playfully in the shoulder. "That or give me a tour of the place?"Alliana beamed a smile his way. She couldn't stop herself, once she got started.

"Maybe," he grinned, pretty much meaning yes. He'd be happy to teach her anything, especially if it meant getting close to her. Watching her beat the hell out of the AI would be great. And would definitely be a one up on whoever programmed the thing.
"I can do both," he said, "not at the same time though." He smirked lightly. Walking over to his bag, he pulled off his shirt, not facing Alliana, and dumped it in his bag, before tugging on a clean one. Once he had it over his head, he picked up the bag with one hand, turning to her, tugging his shirt down with the other. "Where do you want to start the tour?"
