Luke was quick to pan across to the East coast of Australia, picking up one of the beaches there. He'd been there quite a bit with his parents as a kid. He'd had a few surfing lessons while on holiday and such. "I grew up in Brisbane," he said, "before we moved stateside, so we visited the gold coast a lot. Funny we never bumped into each other before, huh?" He grinned. He could definitely understand if that was her favourite place to go.
"Maybe you can change that in years to come," he said, swivelling round to face her, a smile on his face. There was no point regretting the past, live for today, that was his philosophy.

"Maybe.." she repeated with less enthusiasm. She gave a small sigh and looked at the image once more, missing what used to be. She missed that happy feeling deep inside, hadn't held a true smile for quite some time. Although Luke had pulled one out of her with little effort, but he was a different sort of happy. This was the feeling of home, something she hadn't felt for a very long time.
She shook her head for a moment, to rid herself of the unhappy thoughts and turned with a faint smile towards Luke. "So...care ta show me around tha rest of the ship? Although I have a feeling that On my sleepless nights, I'll probably come out heah ta watch tha stars...." she didn't verbally say it, but her eyes invited him to join sometime. It would be nice to enjoy it with someone.

Luke wasn't one to let people be unhappy in his presence - unless, of course, they needed to get it out of their system, in which case, he was there to listen. But most of the time, he would always make jokes or comments to lighten the mood. He didn't like seeing people sad when there was no real need for them to be. There was definitely no need for Alliana to be down in the dumps right now.
"Ah, yes, my master plan of where you work, eat, sleep, play, or whatever it was," he said with a smile, locking up the console with his password before standing up, offering her a hand to help her up, "maybe I'll catch you up here sometimes." He was a bit of a night owl, he been known to stay up into the wee hours of the morning doing work.

She took his hand and could've sworn she felt a spark. He was just too charming, and it didn't help that he was Australian either. Yup, there was a definate crush on the guy. His smile, those eyes. How could any girl resist? Alliana broke a small smile, knowing he had caught her drift. "Yeah....yes that...that would be nice." She caught herself stuttering again. This wasn't a feeling she was used to but she quite enjoyed the butterflies. She tried to let the sadness fall away and cheer herself up, and she could tell he wanted to help in that area. "So... Show me where the rest of the magic happens." She looked down at her hand still in his and blushed like a foolish scoolgirl. Did he even know what he was doing to her?

Luke watched her as she kept a hold of his hand, staring at him, but not at the same time. Her eyes were focused on him, but her mind was somewhere esle. He could only imagine where. It made him smirk. For a while there she'd been coherent, it'd come back again. And, for all he cared, he could keep holding onto her hand if she wanted, might look a bit weird though.
"Ah yes, the magic," he said, gently letting his hand slide from hers as he gestured for her to go forward back out of the flight deck, "little do you know that there are actually loads of little elves working in the bowels of the ship. The engine is full of tiny ones on giant hamster wheels, their collective power is phenomenal." He grinned, leading off towards the mess hall, "can you tell I used to make up stories for kids?"

Alliana gave a small laugh, smiling ever brighter. He was just too much. "Yeah I can definately tell mate. And I think it's charming. I bet you're great with kids." she complimented with a sly smirk. He was probably outrageously adorable with children, and she pictured him telling stories with one perched on his knee.
She gave a small, happy sigh as she made her way out the door. He was outlandishly smart but not a total nerd like her. Good boys like him didn't go for bad girls like her. She had been in and out of jail, and now she was running. Her parents had disowned her and she was a bad influence. However she was bound and determined for a second chance on this ship. She wanted to change and maybe have a chance of finding her freedom as well as herself.

(Lmao! With a kid perched on his knee xD Loving that imagery.)
"I'm glad you think so," he said, smirking a little, "yeah, en mass, having a big family and being the oldest sort of forces you to do all sorts of stuff you wouldn't usually do." Like entertaining his sisters and near 20 of his cousins at the same time. Oh boy, those had been interesting times.
"Next stop on the magical mystery tour," he said, waving at the automatic doors to get them to move - he had learned by now that they were temperamental, no matter what the engineers seemed to do with them, "is the mess hall, here to service all your dietary needs." He was attempting to sound like an official tour guide, whether it was working, he didn't really know. "The machines also dispense alcohol, which is a good to keep in mind for desperate times when card games and drink are the only source of amusement." He nodded.

Alliana smiled warmly as he talked about his family. There had to be something wierdly wrong about him, or he was gay...guys like him just didn't happen. She could tell from the gleam in his eyes that he was a family man and would do whatever it took to provide care and protect.
As they made their way to the mess hall, she ooed and awed, playing along with him. She was quite certain that she didn't want to be given the tour by anyone else but him. He was classic, and would make some girl very very happy, but probably his type. A good girl...if he had a type. Maybe he liked the adventure of a rebel, but who was she to decide. "Mr. Martin.." she rose her hand with an innocent smile. "Do they have a coffee machine and will you show me how to work it?"

Luke laughed out loud at what she said, before composing himself, "of course, if you'd like to follow me." He led her over to the bio-synthesiser and waited until she was stood in front of it, "just say whatever you want, and it'll make it. Easy as pie." The machine started whirring, and Luke rolled his eyes, realising what he had done. A pie appeared in the slot and he snickered, "fancy any pie with your coffee? The flavour is going to be a surprise."

Alliana gave a deep laugh from her throat. She grabbed a fork and handed him one as well. "Well, no use letting this go ta use." she smirked, cutting off a piece. "Mmmm Apple. This things a surprisingly good cook." She decided to back off on the flirting now, he might not be as interested as he was, but the crush was still there. Maybe she would ask him later if there was someone in his life, but that required a more comfortable friendship. They had only known each other for about an hour, maybe more so acting rational wasn't the smartest choice.
The machine glitched and suddenly decided to make a mess of itself, pilling hot coffee all over itself. She muttered a few curses, desperate to find some napkins to clean it up. "See this is why humans will always be better." she laughed, sopping up the mess.

Luke took the fork from her, "it has good taste in pie at least," he said, scooping up a fork full, tasting it. It was good actually, needed a bit of work, but if he went anywhere near it with any sort of tools, the chief engineer would probably take his hands off.
They'd got past the stuttering again, that was good. Luke was interested, hell, who wouldn't be with a woman like Alliana, but he hadn't come on board the ship to dive head first into a crazy relationship with a woman. They could just see where things led.
Luke laughed as well, "guess it's not just humans that wet themselves," he chuckled, helping her with the napkins and the mess. "It figured you obviously didn't want your coffee in a cup. Maybe it could have just poured it straight into your mouth?"

Alliana laughed at his lighthearted joke as she soaked up the mess. "Yeah, I guess that's why." Luke had to have a girlfriend, or fiance' or hell, she could be wasting her time and he was already married. He just had to. She wouldn't give her hopes up just yet, but pushing wasn't going to work. if it was going to happen, it would.
"I dunno. I don't do well with technology, it probably read my thoughts and it's pissed about me." she joked back. Throwing the last of the napkins away, she collected herself in a small sigh. "Alrighty then, where to next?" She still couldn't help but smile at him, that much he couldn't stop.

Luke chortled a little, "please, who could ever be pissed about you." He smirked, "machine needs some sense knocked into it." He have to leave a note on the system for it to be tinkered with, maybe it would get done quicker if he threatened to do it himself.
He wasn't sure what else there was to show her. "Follow me," he said with a smile. He figured if they wandered around the corridors enough, they'd find somewhere, "what did you do before you came on board here then?" he asked, remembering he hadn't asked yet. He was interested to know.

"Oh you'd be surprised." she replied with a snorted laugh. She had plenty of people after her tail. Rather than a string of heartache, she had left her own path of self destruction. It wouldve been much worse, but she stopped smoking and forced herself into rehab. The only problem now was her attitude and authority. It was her sharp tounge that got her in so much trouble. She danced around his next question, careful to avoid the fact that she was in fact running from the law. Her credientials had all been faked and she shouldn't have been on board. "Oh you know...just around. I heard they were looking for crew members so I thought I'd see if I could get on board." In fact, she made a personal pact, if she was accepted she would her hardest at cleaning up her mess. The Venia was her 2nd chance.

Well, that was substantially vague, Luke thought, scratching his jaw a little as he tried to shrug it off. It was her business and if she didn't want to tell him then he'd just have to put up with it. Maybe she'd open up later. "Yeah, right," he said, although he knew full well that everyone was hand picked for this mission. Different topic. "I guess you'll wanna see the science lab then? So you don't get lost on your first day of work?" That, and the flight deck, would be where she worked when she wasn't out in the field.
