Anna blinked, giving him a funny look. Had he really just said that? "I don't think we're going to be rescued anytime soon," she said, "so we have a bit of time before they find me commiting some sort of faux pas." She crawled over to the side of him where his arm was broken, and looked at his arm. Surely they just put it... back in place? Like, oh, she really didn't know. Not to mention her concussion was threatening to render her unconscious again. "What the hell am I supposed to do?" she said, taking a gentle hold of his arm. She'd seen worse, but it really didn't look right the way it was. Bracing his shoulder with one hand, she pulled his arm into place, trying to cause him as little pain as possible, even with the painkillers working. "That looks... mildly better." All her medical training had completely gone from her brain, "is it dislocated?" she asked, squinting at him through the darkness.

Will's sedated state was quickly broken by Anna's attempt to re-locate the arm, the engineer gritting his teeth as he responded to her question: "Probably." He still didn't have much control over it, but he could feel it slumped against his leg. That was a start. Will's assumption about the pain "Right, we need to find a way out of the ship. The..."He could see his breath as he talked. They must have landed on a planet...oh right, they were on the Fringe. The moons around the Fringe have always been infamous for their chilly temperatures.
And that no one. NO ONE had ever gotten off one of them alive. That would change though. Will would makes sure of it.
He squinted, trying to see Annabelle as he said: "Seriously, fix yourself up. Where's that medbox?" He used his free arm to try and feel for it...there. It was open, so he just dragged it to his side, asking: "You want help with this?"

Anna left his arm where it was, figuring it was probably best if she didn't do anything too drastic in this state. It wasn't wise. "Are you going to help me be all pretty again?" she said in a silly voice, reaching over him for the med box to grab some guaze. "Don't ask me where that came from, I'm not the one on pain meds..." She reached up, attempting to clean some of the blood away, sucking in a breath when she touched the cut, pain shooting through it. "Gah." "I can't see where all the blood got to," she said, showing him the side of her head. The temperature inside the ship was quickly dropping, and she began to shiver. "I need to find some blankets or something," she said, attempting to move off part way through cleaning up her cut.

"You really think these idiots would include blankets on a ship like this? I was shocked that they actually had a synthesizer on board!" The painkillers were kicking back in again, causing the pain that was once going up and down his arm to abate, Will feeling around with his free hand to see if he could...no, the heating circuitry would be shorted. Emergency power? No, we used all that up...or did we? He felt around on the floor...there might be a panel somewhere on the ground...
As he searched, he could feel the temperature drop...probably another two degrees. He guessed they were in freezing or just below freezing temperatures, which meant that a layer of ice could form over the ship. He wasn't a weather expert, but he knew that the coating on the ship was thin, meaning that they probably didn't have much time.
They would be fine.

"They've got to have something," she said, "even if it's just a spare jacket or something." If she didn't find something then they would probably freeze to death. She didn't fancy dying like that, not after all they'd managed to survive the last couple of days. Wrapping her scarf more tightly around herself, she finally managed to drag herself onto her feet, although she kept her head low, not wanting to upset it, rooting around in the storage compartment. "Aha." "They were smarter than you think," she tossed the blanket and a military issue jacket at him, "although not smart enough to pack more than one." She fell back to the floor next to Will, and started searching through the med box for some more of the painkillers, finding some tablets, which she immediately took, hoping they'd get to work soon. "Blanket or jacket?"

Will was shocked: the UGAP was usually unprepared for any kind of emergency. This did look like a private shuttle, so maybe the ship transported some important people who would most likely have complained about the lack of blankets(when a ship jumped to lightspeed, the ship's cooling system kicks into high gear in order to counter balance the heat that the ship is giving off by going so fast.). He shivered slightly, but the pain killers were still running their course, so he was still warm inside. That would wear off fast. "Take the jacket. I don't need the blanket just yet. I'm a bit more tougher than you are." His sense of humor was still intact at least.

"Sure you are," she said, pulling on the jacket anyway. "This thing was made for a mammoth, not a man." She waved her arms around a little, the sleeves flopping about, about 6 inches too loong for her arms. And she wasn't tiny, not by a long shot. "There's probably enough room in this thing for two people." Looking around the shuttle, she sighed slightly. What a predicament they'd got themselves into. Not to mention the fact that the space pirates had got away, and the terrorists had probably succeeded in whatever they were planning by now. "How do we manage to get ourselves into so much trouble," she said, "you must be a bad influence," she nudged him gently, looking across at him with a smirk. The pain was subsiding, her head still stuffy, but clearing, slowly.

"Bad influence? I'll have you know darling that I probably am the best influence you've ever had." He leaned back against the wall, realizing that he would probably have to get used to this sitting position: they might be here for a while. "Honestly, I didn't expect to be here. I'm an engineer, not a survival expert nor a tactical officer that takes down terrorists from ventilation grates." The dim red lighting was really starting to get comforting, like being in the depths of an engine core control room. Now that was home. "You're the one that's brought trouble. And to think, you've caused me more pain and suffering that I can recall. Yet I fell in love with you. They don't cover that in the textbooks you know."

Anna let out a pffffft, although she knew it was true. With all his ideals and beliefs, he probably was the 'best' influence she'd had all her life. Her friends weren't angels, neither were her family. She didn't expect to be diving out of any ventilation grates again any time soon. Although, he had a point. She'd been trained to survive all sorts of things. She'd been flung off several flights of stairs on Delta Prime, but she'd saved herself and come back fighting. Combat ready at all times, that was what she was supposed to be. Originally she wasn't quite sure how she'd got to that point, having trained to be hostile, it wasn't something she'd imagined for herself when she was younger. But then, a lot of stuff happened to her, and she found herself wanting to be able to defend herself and others, and that was how she had got that. Anna wrapped the jacket tightly around herself, smiling at him. His ability for mixing insults and compliments at the same time was amazing. She only really took one thing away from that. "You fell in love with me?" Back on New Earth, he had made her promise to love him, and she already knew she was head over heels, but she'd never asked him the same.

Will was taken aback by the question, looking at Anna(well, he couldn't really make out much of her face, so he stared at the round object that probably was her head...ok, yes, he could see her eyes now) with surprise, responding: "Well of course! I think it's been quite obvious from the get go. I don't let people in like this, you know. Not this quickly. How else can I explain it? Of course, I didn't really like you at first. I thought you were a domineering idiot who couldn't keep her hair fixed properly. But then I realized that you're the best woman that could ever fallen into my life. I love you." He leaned in, finding her lips and kissing them gently(they were cold), saying more quietly: "You're cold, darling. Get up close to me under the blanket."

Anna couldn't see the surprise on his face, but she could hear it in his face. Despite their situation, she found herself grinning. She didn't need to be told twice to get close to him under the blanket, her teeth were about to start chattering. Crawling round to the side with his good arm (not wanting to crush the broken one, he'd probably never forgive her for that), she hunkered down beside him, pulling the blanket over the both of them, before cuddling against his side. "It takes a great deal of time and finesse to get my hair like this you know," she teased, smiling. "Oh, and I love you too." ... "In case I hadn't already said it."

"Oh I figured it out. I graduated first in my class: I think I can figure out a simple thing like that." He put his arm(thankfully he could still use one) around her shoulders, massaging the shoulder where his hand was gently(something that came out of habit). "You know, those pirates must be laughing their heads off right now. And, I'm sure that Corvas is in a hissy fit about where we are. Must have tried to call us on our ship comm multiple times. Wouldn't be the first time that a UGAP ship disappeared in the Fringe though. He'll probably have a rescue party coming for us within the next few hours or so. In the meantime, get some rest. You look, from what I can tell, bushed. You can listen to my heart if that would put you to sleep." Will did have a gentle side, contrary to popular opinion.

Anna started snickering, "the imagery you just gave me," she said, attempting to explain why she was laughing at something that was serious, "pirates on a sailing boat all belly laughing while Corver turns purple in the face. I'd love to see that." Well, the pain meds were working at least. "Well, I did conk my head on the console with some ferocity, I think I've earned the right to look 'bushed'." She'd never actually heard someone say that before. Bush was usually used in the terms of a shrub, or maybe a bush kangaroo. Not that there were many of those around any more. "You should too," she told him, "although I have no good adjectives to describe how you look right now." She could feel her eyes drooping. "Mmm, good." And with that, she was out.

Will drew Anna's now sleeping body closer to him, managing to put Anna's head on his chest, her body almost on top of his. This would make sure their body heat would at least mingle...her body felt so good pressed up against his though...
STOP
Will shut his eyes slightly, allowing the warmth of the painkillers to...
"Child, come closer." Will walked to the side of the bed where Anne lay. Her once rounded face had become callow, her once large frame reduced by so much. She was a shadow of her former self. "Anne, how are you feeling?" "Honey, I do what I can." She gave him a weak smile, Will responding: "I heard from Rachel that you don't want to take medical care on. Why not? I can get you the best equipment..." "Honey, it's not about saving me. I'm skin and bones. You need to listen to me." Will smiled, knowing that whenever she implored him to listen, she had something important to pass on. And whatever Anne said, it usually was extremely insightful. "I'm all ears." "You're intelligent. You're also full of pride, which leads to destruction." Will snorted at that pride comment. He had everything to be proud of! He was... "Child, you quit that attitude or else you're gonna kill yourself. Don't let yourself get convinced that you're in love till you're sure." "I'll know that!" "Hush your mouth. You'll understand what I say when it happens. Love don't come around very often, so enjoy it. And above all...make me proud, little Will. Make...make me proud." Will took Anne's hand in his own, kissing it as he told her: "I'll try." "Don't try, baby. Do."
Will's eyes snapped open, finding that tears were streaming down his face. she was right. She was right about everything.

Anna was laying out on a blanket in the small tent that her brothers had erected using a couple of bed sheets and their bunk beds. She was wearing the pink dress that her Mum had bought her for her birthday, which she hated for two reasons - it was pink, and it made it easier for... Her brothers crawled into the tent, grins on their faces, and her hands immediately pushed the hem of her skirt down. "Anna Banana," Lyle said while Ian lay next to her on the mat, "wanna play?" Anna swallowed, her heart beating hard in her chest, but she didn't say a word. "Good." She felt Ian's hand, his thin fingers, trace up the soft skin on her thigh, and she tried desperately to stop her bottom lip from wobbling, staring up into the ceiling of the tent. "There, there. This is supposed to be fun, remember?" "Mmhmm," she managed weakly, her eyes scrunching closed as Ian's hand slipped under the hem of her dress. Lyle's nose touched her hair, and Anna wrapped her arms around herself. He inhaled. "Beautiful baby sister." "Lyle," she whispered, then gasped, her eyes going wide.
Anna's eyes snapped open and she kicked with her legs without thinking, not realising how close to Will she was now. It had been an automatic reaction, but luckily she didn't kick Will, at least not as far as she could tell. Her face was damp but she looked up at Will quickly, checking to see whether she'd hurt him, then saw the tears streaming down his face. She reached up to touch his face, "what's the matter?" she croaked, trying not to break down herself.
