Will didn't respond at first, allowing the tears to go down his face unabated. He missed Anne. A lot. He would never admit it to anyone else, but at her funeral, he cried so hard that he actually started convulsing, almost like a seizure. He hung his head, feeling defeated, exposed...alone. And yet, he could still hear one of Anne's sayings ringing in his head: "Love doesn't come often. Enjoy it." Will looked over at Anna, his tough exterior thrown away: the pride, the insults, the sarcastic humor, everything. "You know...I never knew what love really was until Anne came into my life. She...she changed everything. You...you did the same. Whether you know it or not, you're beginning to change me. I...I won't ever neglect loving you. Ever." He kissed her now, a bit more longingly than he had ever kissed her before. Love doesn't come often.
Enjoy it.

Anna returned his kiss, closing her eyes as she did so, more tears threatening to fall. Pulling away slightly, she looked at him in the dim red light. His eyes were filled with sincerity, he'd meant every word. Kissing him again, she said, "hold me," before clutching onto him tightly, tears pouring down her face as she buried her head against his chest. Her feelings were so conflicted. The pain of the dream was still resonating within her, yet she felt so loved. More loved than she ever had in her life. And she believed it, for once she believed she could be loved, by Will. Only Will. He was the only one she allowed to do so. "Will," she said, lifting her head a little so she could speak, "I believe you, and I love you, more than anything." "Damn me to hell if I do anything to hurt you, I'd never forgive myself. You don't deserve the pain, I don't want you to feel pain." She was rambling a little, her emotions still raw.

Will wrapped his arm tightly around Anna as she sobbed into his chest, the engineer putting his chin on her head gently. He lifted his chin once she called his name as she looked up at him, his mind flushing with relief and a feeling that bordered on absolute joy when she told him the extent of her love. "Darling, we all feel pain. But it's different now. We go through everything together now, you understand? The two of us. Together." He kissed her again, a bit of pent up passion now evident in his gesture, his hand going up her back, resting it on the upper left part of her back as he continued the romantic gesture.
"Where are they?!" Corver slammed his hands on the console, as if that would solve everything. It had been six hours since he had heard anything from the shuttle and he was now getting worried. His aide came in behind him, asking: "Sir, rescue team Alpha is ready, but what are their orders?" Corver had been reluctant to send his squad into the Fringe, but Mcadams and Blake were important figures on the Venia: if they died, the Board would be on his back. "Get them out there. Now." "Right away, sir."

Anna merely managed to nod in response before his lips were upon hers. She pressed herself against him as she reached up with her hand to run it up over his slight stubble into his hair. In the back of her mind somewhere, she knew this probably wouldn't go far, as they both had their reasons for not wanting to, but right now she didn't care. She wanted him for as long as she could have him - hopefully that would be till the end of their lives. And she was going to enjoy it. Her need, her want for him was evident, as her fingers flexed against his head, her lips moving synonymously with his. This actually felt good, really good. She'd thought all her feelings of pleasure had been ruined forever by the past, but right now, she was feeling... wow. How long would it be before one or both of them pulled away? Or would they even do that?

While the temperature was dropping inside(another two degrees), Will wasn't feeling it at the moment, but rather a flush of heat went throughout his body. This was starting to get a bit intense... "Babe...babe..." He pulled away, smirking slightly as he told her: "You know how I feel about this." He kissed her on the forehead, continuing: "Resist me until after the vows. I know that's hard, but I think you can control yourself." He knew as the words came out of his mouth that it would be a mutual effort of resistance. "To be honest darling, I wasn't expecting that."
"Neither was I, sir." Corver was explaining the absence of the Venia, as well as the sudden appearance of an apparently man made rift on Helio to Mark Jones, one of the Generals that presided on the UGAP board "What have you done to amend the situation?" "I just sent out a search and rescue team." "Keep this quiet. I don't want those blood thirty journalists after us." "Absolutely."

"I was hoping you'd forget," she said, jokingly, her tears now dried up. It's sort of hard to cry whilst doing something like that. Sort of ruined the moment too, to be honest. "Don't worry, I don't want to rush it." That was the truth. Doing something like that on the floor of a broken down ship while they were both injured wasn't exactly her idea of romance. And she wanted it to be romantic. She also wanted to be ready, and despite the heat a few moments ago, she knew she wasn't ready to take that step. "I can control myself." Taking a breath, she resisted the urge to kiss him again, resting her head on his chest instead. It would be safe there, and at least she would be satisfied still having him close. "Wasn't expecting what?" she smirked, then grinned up at him. She felt tired again, but she didn't want to sleep. "I need to stay awake," she said, "not even you can keep the dreams away."

"Dreams?" Will understood then: she was still being tormented by her past, which Will just couldn't tolerate. He wouldn't dwell on it however: he was better than that. Instead, he contented himself keeping his arm around his lover(he would have done it with both arms, but the other one was still limp...although it was starting to regain a little feeling). "I can understand why you want to stay awake." He stayed silent for a few minutes, watching his breath come out of his mouth in stable intervals. It was getting chillier. And, judging from the way the ship's interior was getting darker, he assumed that the suns had set. When would they come up again? No matter: they would be rescued. They would be.
"Probe A: report?" "Nothing, sir." "Probe B: report?" "Nothing here, sir." The squad commander uttered a profanity laced tirade, said tirade being interrupted by the reading of the third probe: "Probe C: wreckage on Moon-543. Obscured by snow, but visible." "Confirmation on ship signature?" "Wreckage parts match shuttle number ZW-2341." "Perfect. Alright boys, lets go do our job."
Will had dozed off, but that doze was interrupted by a sharp CLANG. Then another. All at once, the rear wall of the ship fell, revealing a large shape...looked like a man. "Sir, ma'am: we're here to take you home."

Anna let out a 'hmmm' of agreement. Unfortunately, she didn't think she was going to be able to stay awake, despite the cold. Her face was like ice, but the rest of her body was so very warm, wrapped in the coat and the blanket, huddled in to Will's body. Using each other's body heat would have been a good idea whether they were in love or not. Soon enough, sleep took her, but as luck would have it, this time her dreams were more pleasant. Mainly thanks to Will.
Anna wasn't entirely sure what was going on. One moment she had been standing on a beautiful sunny beach, Will practically beaming down at her, and the next the wall was crashing down, and it was so very cold. She blinked, peering up at the man as light flooded in from flash lights. Then she heard what he said, and heaved a sigh of relief. "We're getting out of here," she said. A little reluctantly, she removed herself from Will's embrace, using the wall to support herself as she climbed to her feet, "Will has a broken arm which needs attending to as soon as possible." She staggered a little, still unsteady on her feet.

The figure stepped into the dim lighting, nodding at Anna's comment, saying: "Don't worry ma'am, we'll take care of you both once we're out of here." Will rose, leaning on his good arm as he stood up, his balance a little off. The first figure pushed two buttons on his wrist, a thermal bubble big enough for four people popping up. "Step into the bubble." "Right then. Cheers." Will, taking Anna by the hand, led her into the thermal bubble, which was tainted a light red. The warmth was almost a shock to Will's system, the engineer almost falling back. "This won't last long. Please hurry." As they walked out into the open, Will couldn't see anything but snow...everywhere. The planet's surface didn't look very forgiving to life. They were lucky that they had been rescued.
There were actually three ships, the figure(who Will could see now was coated in black plated armor, which he assumed was climate controlled.) led them inside a medium...ish size vessel. It was probably double the size of the shuttle they had crashed in, which wasn't saying much. They were led up a ramp, which then shut behind them. The armored figure let down the thermal bubble, his helmet retracting to reveal a closely cropped military type, a scar running down the man's left cheek. "I'm Captain Yaroska. You two are glad my boys and I made it. You would have been frozen to death." "Yes, we figured." Yaroksa laughed slightly, continuing: "We don't have enough fuel to get you two to Helio. Going to have to refuel at a nearby system. Should take about ten minutes." "Right then. We can go to Helio then? "I don't know and I don't care. My job is to get you out of here and onto Tuvian. Anything else, call Corver. We're leaving now. Get strapped in." Yaroska walked down the hall to the cockpit, a door sealing off the cockpit as he stepped in. "Well, he's quite the character."

Stepping in the bubble was a weird sensation, but didn't come as much of a shock to Anna, because of the way she'd been wrapped up. She felt Will strain on her hand and she gripped it tightly so he didn't fall over. "Whoa." She hadn't realised how harsh the environment was on the planet when she'd been trying to maneuver around it. They would have started spiralling down near the 'equator', but when they initiated the glide, they must have glided towards the pole and crashed there. The snow would have helped to break their landing, maybe it was a miracle they weren't more injured.
Allowing Will to do a lot of the talking, he seemed able to at the moment so... she stood and listened, still a little groggy from all that sleep. They were ordered to sit down, and Anna led Will over to a couple of seats, sitting down before looking round at him. "What do you expect, he's military," she said, "not everyone is as amazing as me." She hadn't really carried that egotistical comment off with much enthusiasm, but it worked all the same. She could see him properly now that they were in the light. His arm was a mess, not to mention his hair - that might have been partly her fault. Her face must have looked a mess with the blood, she knew she hadn't cleared all of it up, not that Yaroksa had cared. The cut was deep, hopefully it wouldn't scar. Strapping herself in, then reaching across to do the same for Will, she said, "we'll have to get fixed up then request another ship to Helio. There's not as much urgency now, we can make our way there and investigate the base. See what's going on."

"Urgency? Darling, there's a rift out there that's now probably the size of London that, the last time I checked in with New Earth, is growing. We also know that some idiot pirates didn't want us finishing our trip to Helio. That needs to get reported to the commander and our people need to know what's going on." The crew seemed so slow to catch on at times. Or maybe he was just smarter than everyone else. He felt a jolt in his seat as the ship took off, the pain in Will's arm returning. "How are you feeling now?" He looked over at her a bit concerned. She did have a cut down her face and the top of her head was matted with blood. But she still looked as good as ever.

"By now it's probably the size of the Europe with the time that has passed," she said, nodding slightly. He was right, again. She was going to give the people on the Venia a hard time when they found them again if they didn't have a good enough excuse. They weren't supposed to be doing this alone, getting their arses kicked across the Universe. Looking across at him, she took his hand, "fine, I'm fine." Bad, bad lie. He'd see right through it, the blood down her face spoke volumes. "How about your arm? Got any feeling back? I didn't ruin it by moving it or anything, right?" Like she could do that, she was just anxious. Maybe she'd taken that comment about him getting into trouble because of her a little to heart. "Why do I get the feeling this is going to be like the calm before the storm?"

Will snorted, saying: "You're probably one of the worst liars I've ever seen. Were you the kid that could never get away with cheating in grade school? Anyway, you need to go get examined the first thing we touch down on Helio. Never mind my arm darling, it'll heal." Just then, Anna's comment truly sunk into his brain: the calm before the storm. Will always hated that period of time: the calm was just a sham, a hoax for what was really going to come.
The ship touched down easily, Yaroska coming out of the pilot seat and activating the ramp that would take them to the hangar. "I've got word that you two will be met by medical staff in the hangar. So unstrap yourselves and get off my ship." The ramp touched down onto the ground, Yaroska walking down the ramp, his voice still audible from where Will and Anna were sitting. A conversation was going on: "Where are they?" "Go get them yourself." "Jerk." "Thanks."

"I didn't need to cheat," she poked her tongue out at him, "and I will, hun, as soon as you do." The pet names were fun, even if a lot of the time they were used for teasing.
Undoing the belt, she rose to her feet, offering Will her hand. "Oh, yes, real charmers. No wonder you thought all us military folk were brash pigs." At least she was different, or at least, that's what he'd said, maybe a couple of times. Walking down the ramp, she looked around. "Wow," she said, "this is like coach compared to New Earth's first class." It looked like a great deal of the buildings around were out dated, constructed from a mixture of different materials, not many that looked sturdy. She supposed this was probably because the planet had a reputation for being the hell hole of the system. Pretty much everyone on this planet was corrupt, or commiting illegal acts, in one way or another. "Funny how this just happened to be the closest planet," she said, her sarcasm back full force, "at least, in this state, we'll fit right in."

Will had heard of Tuvian before: in fact, a few of his former class mates had gone here on "restoration" projects as a part of their research. Most of them were killed. "Ms.Mcadams? Mr.Blake?" A young woman, probably Anna's age give or take a few years, approached them as they came down the ramp. Her hair was dirty blond, which blended into the surroundings. She looked tired, almost as if something was weighing her down. "I'm Doctor Poole with the Alliance. I'll get you two to our medical bay." A small shuttle could be seen about one hundred feet away with a large blue holographic projection of a cross. "Fine then. Lets get moving." Poole turned around, rolling her eyes. She had already dealt with one jerk today. She wouldn't deal with another.
The ride through the crowded capital city was quite an experience. It looked like a grimy version of New York City, which was saying something. Vendors were hawking their wares in air stalls, taxis were bustling about with fares, and suspicious looking vehicles were parked in dark alleyways.
"Go down the hallway, Mr.Blake. The nurses will take care of you there." "Yeah, I'm used to this by now." As he walked down the hall, Poole turned to Anna and asked: "Is he ah...is he always like that?"
