Doctor Jessica Lewis wasn’t entirely sure she was ready for the adventure she was about to embark on. She’d got used to her life at home, living alone now her sister had definitely moved out, having steady work, still a little jazzed from her month long holiday the previous year; whereas now she was leaving everything behind to get on a star ship and travel hundreds of light years across the galaxy, universe even, to help out with the victims of these strange anomalies that were occurring.
She wasn’t entirely sure who else was going to be on this mission, or whether there were going to be any other Doctors, but she did know that she’d got stuck in traffic, missed the shuttle, and ended up arriving on board the ship a good few hours after everyone else. Not the best start, and it certainly didn’t give the greatest of impressions, but she’d catch up with the Captain later and apologise once she’d made sure all her stuff was put away and she’d discovered where she was supposed to be working.
The medical bay was... amazing, and empty. Jessica was used to people running around seeing to their patients, whereas there were no patients here, and no other Doctors either. All the equipment was safely stored away and there wasn’t really anything that Jessica could do other than familiarise herself with the work space, or try and find the Captain, or First Mate, or something. She sighed and bit her lip, unsure about what to do. It wasn’t like she was socially handicapped or anything, she just hadn’t been in a situation like this before and she didn’t know what to do with herself.

After the meeting Michael decided to see his quarters. Dumping his two bags on the bed, he would unpack later he didn’t feel like unpacking, spending most of his life in space he got used to it. Michael wanted to have a look around he had read the layout of the ship and found it where everything was from the map plus what the Venia had installed and all. The ship was amazing even his quarters were bigger then a normal starship from the EDN. Michael had a lot more room to move around in and it looked really comfortable but he’d find out how comfortable tonight when he first slept in the bed.
Michael continued walking down the corridor taking everything in. Michael only got lost a couple of times, he found himself walking into the bathrooms where he was supposed to be finding the labs yeah he’ll keep that to himself lucky he was the only one in the bathrooms. Michael saw another room up ahead, looking up he noticed that the room was the medical bay. Stepping inside he looked around, it was rather quiet and he didn’t see the Doctor right away. Michael wondered why she wasn’t in the briefings he would have remembered the face. “Hello doc.” Michael said as he announced his arrival to her. “Nice setup you’ve got here. How come I didn't see you at the briefing? I would have remembered you if you had.” Michael was probably flirting with the doctor but he wasn’t really worried if that he was flirting with her.

Jessica heard someone enter and swivelled round to see who it was, another Doctor maybe? Her breath got caught in her throat as she saw him. She knew they'd brought together the smartest, the most talented people all on one ship, but she hadn't realised they'd brought together the most physically attractive people. Quickly, she pushed that thought to the back of her mind, scolding herself for checking him out. That wasn't exactly the first impression she'd wanted to give. He looked to be the Captain as well, which made it even worse.
"Hi," she managed, fiddling with her hands a little, "I'm sorry I didn't make it to the briefing," she quickly apologised, "the traffic was horrendous and I missed my shuttle. I would have come to find you sooner but I wasn't sure where everything was. I only just managed to find my way here." Now she was being bashful and shy, which wasn't exactly how she'd wanted to come across either. "I'm Jessica Lewis," she said, offering him a hand. Her accent was sort of non-descript, she'd had English parents, but had lived in France and America, so her accent was flat, pretty much non-existent.
She figured it was probably easier to calm herself and start over in her head, although the slightly flirtacious comment made her smile. "You're the Captain, I presume?" he was in full military dress after all. She figured her outfit and the fact that she'd been standing in the medical bay had probably given her away.

Michael Clarke looked back to the Doctor as she introduced herself as Jessica Lewis. Michael listened to the Doctor as she spoke to him though he wasn’t angry with her for not being at the briefing he of course knew that other people had a lot to do before they could leave Earth for their mission. “Think nothing of it Doctor Lewis. I didn’t expect everyone to be there since everyone has a lot to do before we leave for the mission. The briefing was to get everyone to meet everyone and to get to know everyone before we leave nothing serious.” Michael replied back to Jessica. Michael smiled as he looked around, even the medical bay was bigger then most EDN starships, the government really put a lot of effort into this mission.
Michael slowly understood why this mission was so important, he had already accepted it before but his new job was slowly starting to sink in. “Correct. Captain Michael Clarke at you’re service.” Ok he was flirting with the doctor but did he care? Nope he thought this was a government operation and not a military operation he’d get away with most things that you wouldn’t get away with and hell it was merely just harmless fun anyways. “How are you finding everything Doc?” Michael asked as he stepped in further. Michael knew that most of the ship’s personnel would be arriving in the next few hours or so and this place would be busy with medical staff. Michael looked back at Jessica as he waited for a response from her.

When he said Doctor Lewis, she felt herself flinch. Not even her patients called her that, she was always informal with most people, even her superiors. She tried to get over the formalities quickly. "Please, call me Jessica, or Jess," she said, "or even continue calling me Doc," she added with a slight smirk. That was what guys with an attitude usually called her, they seemed to find it funny. To her, they sounded more like Bugs Bunny, but she wasn't about to point that out right now. Her parents had called her Jessie, and her sister did too sometimes, but she'd been protective over that nickname since her parents had died, only people really close to her got to use that name and get away with it.
He continued flirting, and she smiled. "Well, everything in here is pretty easy to find, everything else on the ship however..." she sighed a little, "going to need to carry a map with me at all times, or hire my own personal guide." That was a bit of an exaggeration, once she got used to the place she'd be fine, but she imagined she wasn't the only person who be wandering around looking lost for the first couple of days. "Well, Captain, seeing as you're at my service," she smirked, "I have to do a pre-flight medical exam of all the crew, and seeing as you're here, why don't we start yours now?" She had only innocent intentions, honest.

Michael listened to the comment and nodded in reply, he didn’t mean to offend the doctor with what he said. Michael was in military mode where he would call someone by their rank and surname it was common with him being a military man he would just have to get used of calling people by their first names from now on. “Not a problem Jess. Please call me Michael or Mike.” Michael replied back after settling on to call the doctor Jess from now on. Michael looked around before turning back to Jess when she replied to him about finding everything onboard, if she didn’t have something Michael would of course call the government and get then to get that certain item in before they set of into space.
“If you find something that’s missing in the inventory I’ll contact the government to get it sent up to us before take off.” Michael replied back to Jess. Michael laughed when Jess explained further about needing the map. “I’ve been around spaceships for a long time I tend to memorize the layout of a new ship that I’m stationed on before I arrive so I could get a feel of it. Though mind you I’ve gotten lost a couple of times. Once Admiral Danielson gave me a map of a Freighter ship now that was embarrassing indeed.” Michael explained as he remembered that bit of his past, he just graduated from the academy too. Michael could tell that he wasn’t going to like what Jess was going to suggest to him after that smirk that he saw across her face. “We’ll I’m all yours.” Michael replied back, yeah anything to get his shirt off.

Michael or Mike? She'd thought that ship Captains had people call them 'Captain' or 'Sir'. But then, it didn't really seem right for her to call him that anyway, she was the Doctor on board, and not in the military, so really he wasn't her superior, he was just in charge of the mission. She nodded in reply, probably opting to call him Michael. Mike reminded her of a kid in school who used to pick on her sister, he was an obnoxious little brat, and Jess was fairly certain the Captain wasn't like that.
"I don't think there's anything missing, but I can do a check once we're done here," she replied. She smiled at his story, "I'd probably get lost trying to find the toilets on a shuttle, so I think you're doing better than me already." Of course he would know his ship back to front, just in case. Jess only really to know where she worked, and where to shower, eat and sleep. Maybe when she wasn't busy she'd explore the rest of the ship with a hand held computer to guide the way so she didn't get lost and have to call for help. Now that would be embarrassing.
"Well, the computer is going to do most of it," she said, gesturing to a bio-sensor in the corner. Sort of spoiled her fun, but made her job easier when she had to do things quickly, or had multiple things to be doing. "It's going to take all the usual measurements including heart rate and blood pressure," she said, walking over to it, "just make sure you don't have anything heavy in your pockets that the computer can't detect." Unless, of course, he wanted to seemed heavier than he was, or have the computer bleep anomaly at him. That'd be funny.

Michael watched Jess for a moment, since this ship wasn’t military he couldn’t see why people should call him Captain since this was in fact a government spaceship after all, well these were Michael’s thoughts anyways. Michael looked back at Jess as she spoke to him once more. Michael grinned back at Jess as he listened to her words. “Well let me know if there is something missing won’t you.” Michael replied back to Jess as she explained to him that there wasn’t anything that was missing. Michael however had gotten reports from various different heads of departments that several different things were in fact missing and he had gotten the government to deliver them.
Michael sighed a little bit when Jess told him that the computer will be doing most of it. That just defeated the purpose of the whole thing, he missed the old Earth hospitals where nurses got to check everything out without the computer, god it felt like he was old school. Michael walked over towards the bio sensor. “Don’t have much except my communicator and weapon here.” Michael replied as he placed both of them on the nearest table thing he could see. It was an old habit of his that he always carried an weapon and communicator on him, you never knew what was around the next corner on the ship. Michael laid down as he waited for Jess to start the bio sensor. “You know I miss when we didn’t have the computers to exam you and the doc did that themselves.” Michael teased Jess.

"I will do," she smiled back, his grin automatically making her smile. She'd barely been on the ship an hour and already she was flirting with the Captain and vice versa. There was something about him which immediately let her guard down, she wasn't sure whether that was a good or bad thing yet.
A grin briefly crossed her face when he sighed upon her telling him the computer would be doing most of it. She quickly turned away so he wouldn't see her, and she tried to not laugh, then started tapping a screen, getting the biosensor ready. As he lay down, she looked back round at him, smiling as he spoke, "used to make a job a lot more interesting," she teased back, "if it makes you feel any better, I have to do the blood test and take a DNA sample by hand." There were machines that could do it for her, but that would make her pretty much redundant as a Doctor.
She set the biosenser going, and as it scanned, she tried to think of something else to talk about, "whereabouts are you from?" she asked. She hadn't been able to tell. His voice and accent were smooth, unlike most she'd heard before. "If you don't mind me asking, of course."
