Personality:

Jess is an older sister, so embodies all the qualities that brings. She had a lot of responsibility early on, so is sensible, logical, forward thinking, and organised. She also has a tendency to nurture people, whether it is physically or emotionally. She’s very caring, friendly, approachable, and generally an enjoyable person to be around. She’s not much of a party person, but likes to let her hair down every once in a while, have a few drinks with her friends, nothing too extravagant.

Because she is so used to responsibility, she takes a lot of unnecessary responsibility onto herself, and will often blame herself for things that aren’t her fault or aren’t within her control. Although most of the time she is calm, she can get stressed in intense situations. When she feels hurt or betrayed, she will often become quiet and withdrawn, and refuse to talk to the person she’s been hurt by. She can hold a grudge, and when someone loses her trust, they very rarely get it back.

History:

Jessica was always a bright and caring child. She and her British parents lived on a small boat off the coast of France until her Mum became pregnant with Jess’ younger sister. They moved into a small house, and lived there for a couple of years until they decided to move over seas to America. It was going to be an exciting adventure, living somewhere so far away from home, in a place that was so vastly different from what they were used to. Tragically, the aircraft that they were on taking them to New York malfunctioned mid-flight. The engine exploded and plane plummeted into the ocean. Jess and her sister, Gemma, survived, but their parents did not.

The girls were taken into foster care, and refused to be homed unless they were together. When Jess was 16, she got a job alongside her studies, and eventually managed to save up enough money to get a place to stay with her sister once she’d graduated from school. She managed to get a paid job at a hospital while she studied medical science at a University in New York, and a scholarship to fund her through University, along with her inheritance money. After that she did part time study alongside work to become a Doctor.

She’s always been hard working, despite having a lot of responsibility at home. When Gemma graduated and went off to University on the West Coast, Jess finally found more time for herself. She met a wonderful guy who she thought she was going to marry. He did, in fact, propose, but as time went on, he became more distant, and eventually Jess found that he’d been cheating on her with her best friend. Shocked, she was depressed for a couple of months. Her superior ordered her to take some time off work, and she spent a month on Delta Prime before going back to work.

Jess had been home for about six months before the anomalies began to occur. She’d dealt first hand with some of the casualties of the events. Another six months later, she was approached by the government about the mission, asking her to go aboard the Venia as the ship’s Doctor. After much persuasion from her sister, she eventually agreed.

Random Facts:

- Her birthday is on Christmas day and has always insisted that people only buy her one set of gifts.
- She enjoys reading immensely, and has her own small library in her apartment.
- She was once engaged, but her finacee cheated on her, and she has found it hard to trust men ever since.
