Infected Luke Martin Sitting at his console, Luke scratched his forehead and screwed his eyes closed. It was not a good day. And, to be honest, Luke couldn't tell you exactly why. It was like there was something on his mind, but he couldn't quite place what it was. He'd done all sorts to try and take his mind off this mysterious thing that was bugging him, but so far, nothing was working.
His head hit the console and he groaned, tired of this feeling. Two days now he'd been feeling like this, and not even Ally had been able to soothe him. He hadn't been able to explain it very well, which was part of the problem. Everytime he thought he was closing in on what was wrong, it escaped him again, and that just left him feeling frustrated on top of feeling confused.
"Um, sir?" came a young male voice from somewhere over his left shoulder. "What?" Luke asked, although he didn't really want to know, he didn't even bother lifting his head. "Mr. Reed said that he wouldn't be able to take over his shift this afternoon." That made Luke lift his head. "What?" "I said, um-" "I didn't mean repeat yourself," Luke growled, "what's wrong with him?" "He's not feeling well," the man quivered. "Oh that's great," Luke said, rising from his chair, kicking it, "just bloody great!" What exactly was he getting angry over? "Get lost!" he barked at the guy, who promptly scampered away. What the hell is wrong with me?

Luke was not himself, and that scared Ally. He had seen a little snippy lately, which was incredibly out of character for him. He was well known around the ship for being the sweet heart on board, and over all genuinely nice guy. But something was not right. Something was incredibly wrong with the way he had been acting. He had barked at her once or twice, but men got moody occasionally too, she she thought it must just be a phase. Yes...that was it, a phase.
Being the caring girlfriend she was, she brewed a pot of tea, all by herself. Not the machines. A bit of green tea with orange. It was her favourite for when she wasn't feeling well, and she thought a mug of it's hot soothing capabilities, might help clear it's mind a little. She was honest to goodness, worried about him and seeing him like this, hurt her heart a little.

Luke clenched his fists and turned away from the door, digging his nails into his palms. This was getting ridiculous. That guy didn't deserve the treatment that Luke had just given him, if Toby was ill, then he was ill, usually, that'd be fine. But, today, it just seemed to piss him off. Everything was annoying him beyond reason, and it didn't make sense. The back of his neck itched, and he reached up to scratch it. Something wasn't right.
Someone said his name, and an irritated, "what?!" burst forth from his mouth. There was a smash as something crashed to the floor. Luke spun on his heel to see Ally standing in the doorway, her gray eyes wide. "I'm sorry," he said quickly while he still could, and he held up his hands. "I don't know what's wrong with me."

What on earth had gotten into him? "Don't....don't worry about it." she stuttered lightly and stepped inside, holding the door open with her other hand so the poor boy could fully escape. She swallowed the lump in her throat and extended the mug. "I...I made you some tea. thought it might help." She had seem him a little gripey, but never violent. H Surely he would never hurt her, right?......Right?
She took a seat, close to him, but still far enough away, if need be. "Are you feeling okay?" she asked cautiously, resting the back of her hand against his forehead. "Bloody hell, Luke you're burning up." Well, now her suspicions were confirmed. He was sick, that should give him some excuse to be a little upset.

Luke took the mug from her, but set it quickly away from him, not trusting himself at all - he didn't want to send the thing flying and risk scolding Ally with the hot tea. "Thanks," he said quickly, hovering nervously. He didn't like it when Ally was around him when he acting like this. His actions seemed uncontrollable, and he didn't want to hurt her in any way, shape or form. He'd never forgive himself if he did.
He clenched his fist again as she reached up to touch her forehead, willing himself not to do anything to her. "I'm sick?" he repeated. Well, that would explain some of what was up with him, but not all of it. Some sort of fever shouldn't be making him react completely irrationally and uncontrollably like this. His hand started shaking, and he took a step backwards from her. "Ally, I think you should go," he warned her.

It was happening again, she could see it in his eyes. With anna hanging on a limb of hope right now, she craved some sort of comfort, someone she could go to and now.....this. "Darling, you're not well." she soothed quietly, reaching for his hand to hold. He pulled away, stepping up and away from her instantly. He wanted her to leave, it probably would be smart, but she just couldn't leave him, or watch him like this.
"I think you should come to the medical bay with me. Anna isn't doing well either. Maybe Kiri and I could run some tests or something.." Ally had this biting feeling he was flat out ignoring her, but she tried anyway. 'You're running a high fever, your breathing is erratic and your behaviour is off. " She felt as if that was the least smartest thing she could say to him right now, but dammit she had to convince him he was far from well.

Ally wasn't leaving. Her concern for him was overriding any sense that she had left, and he wasn't sure how much longer he was going to be able to keep control of his body. "Ally," he said through gritted teeth. He was slipping. He didn't want to go anywhere, he wanted her to get out of here. "Damn it!" he lashed out, knocking the mug of tea off the console, his voice caught up in the sound of it smashing to the floor. "I said leave!!"
He panted, screwing up his face, his hands clenching at thin air. What was happening?

Ally closed her eyes and clenched her jaw tight. "Luke..." she breathed quietly. 'You're not going to get any better. " She winced as the cup shattered on the floor, the hot tea splashing on the floor. He had snapped. He had never cursed at her before, never could she even remember him this angry. 'Please listen to me..." She had slid up from the chair, backing away slowly, but still lingering enough to talk to him.
"Luke, please....just stop and think about this for a minute. " She bit her lip out of thoughtful habit. "What the hell has happened to you?"

Ally finally started her retreat, but she wasn't moving fast enough. "I don't know," he said, his voice straining to keep some level of control, "I really don't know, love, but I need you to leave, right now." There was no way she would be able to knock him out, not with the state he was in, and his fighting experience. And he didn't want her to try for fear of her being hurt.
He was beginning to feel like the incredible hulk. Absolute rage rising in his chest. "Please." His eyes were pleading. He'd never felt like this before, not even when he'd lashed out at that bully back in High School. Even then, he'd known what he was doing. But now... he really didn't.

"Luke.." she breathed, grey eyes beginning to water and grow in fear. She was...scared of him? "No...don't do this.." Ally caught her choked breath and slowly made her way backwards towards the door. She was honestly afraid of him, and she wasn't used to this. Fear wasn't an emotion she was used to, and now, it wasn't something she wanted to linger in.
Ally sniffled, swallowing down the growing lump in her throat. It wouldn't move, but her tears now were. Her bottom lip quivered and then-she tripped. Falling over the chair he had kicked over earlier. now she was down, staring up at him with wide eyes of uncertainty.

Luke could feel tears in his own eyes as she pleaded with him, but he couldn't stop himself. It was like an out of body experience, he could see himself doing the actions, but he had absolutely no control whatsoever. One of the chairs soared across the room, shattering one of the glass computer screens. STOP IT! Luke told himself as Ally curled up on the floor, petrified. He needed to stop himself.
The itching at the back of his neck was worse than ever and Luke's eyes went wide. Oh God no, it couldn't be. "Nano," was all Luke choked out before he couldn't speak any more. He had to act now. In one swift movement, while he still had a small amount of control left, Luke swiped his hand into the back of his neck, hard. His vision flickered and he fell forwards, smacking his head into a console on the way down. He was out cold.

Ally shrieked as the chair went flying, crashing into a computer, dangerously close to her. The glass shattered and she fell victim to it's rain, feeling the smaller shards attack her skin. She scuffled back, as fast as she could, finding the door with her hand, it was too hard to open from the floor. It automatically sealed itself shut. And then it happened-like a blur in front of her.
Her heart stopped, watching him apply pressure to the back of his neck, and he suddenly fell, in slow motion, like a groaning tree cut down. Her breathing was quick, with a small jump at the end. He was out, gone. She choked and instantly began crying in fear and confusion. there was no preparation for the tears, no gradual accession. the just came, flooding down like a wild river. 'Luke..." she whispered. 'darling are you okay?" Even though he was unconscious, she couldn't help but speak to his limp body.
She rolled him over, brushing the small pieces of glass away from his forehead and kissed the wound gently. "Oh..god....no." she weeped, her mind trying to figure out how to handle this situation. After holding him for a good few minutes, reality stuck her again. She turned on her commlink, finding Ben's signal. B...B-Ben..I..I need your help...."

Ben had watched as Alliana stepped out of med bay, claiming to need some air, turning back to Anna's unconscious face with lost eyes. What am I supposed to do? he asked her silently, brushing several stray strands of red hair back from her face. As John and Will were still discussing whatever was on the data-pad, giving him a moment alone with her.
He almost felt like he should say something, but he'd never been great with words, and she wasn't even awake to hear them. A small smile crept its way onto his face when he thought of how, if she'd been awake, she probably would have punched his arm and said something to the effect of how she wasn't dead, and acting like he had to give her a "final farewell" or something was stupid of him.
When his comm beeped, Ben pulled it out and glanced down to see that it was Alliana calling him. Confused and admittedly a little concerned, he answered her call. "Alliana? What's--" But her tear-choked words cut him off. "Where are you?" he asked instead, ignoring the others' curious looks and rushing out into the hall.

Ally's choked tears were making it hard for her to breathe, or speak for that matter. "I...I'm in the flightdeck. Luke..he...he's infected." The last word stung like hot pepper. It was like a nightmare, that she was now stuck inside. Crying wasn't something she did easily, but here, with him like this, ripped her heart to pieces. It was bad enough seeing Anna in this condition, but now, Luke too? It was too much.
She ran her fingers through his hair, leaning her head down to hold him close as her salty tears covered his face. 'I...I'm scared Ben, please...hurry." She was now no longer scared for her life, as she was for his now. She knew nothing about this virus, and she could only imagine all the terrible things it could do. His head felt hot, he was beginning the chills and...oh..crap, was that a rash too? She had to find a cure for this bastard of a virus.

When Alliana told Ben she was on the flightdeck, he only just managed to refrain from cussing. Before she'd even explained, he knew why she was crying. Luke. Damn it, they had to figure this sickness out, and fast. The crew were dropping like flies. "I'll be right there," he promised, cutting off the comm link and picking up his pace until he was practically sprinting toward the flightdeck.
He was into the room before the door had even opened all the way, helping Ally to her feet and then crouching down in front of Luke. Biting back yet another curse, he pulled the man's arm over his shoulders and pulled him up. Alliana was standing by the door, her tear-stained face frightened. He knew that nothing he could possibly say to comfort her would be honest, so instead he made do with telling her what to do.
"Alliana, run ahead and get another bed ready in med bay. Tell Will and John that what's happened. I'll be there with Luke as fast as I can."
