Their daughter couldn't have bounded in at any better moment. He thought this had hit him hard but Ally had been about ready to fall to pieces. But then in came this bundle of joy who set everything straight. The miscarriage was just a bump in the road. They were fine. Everything was good. And their daughter was beautiful. She was going to look almost exactly like her mother, which certainly wasn't a bad thing. "Yeah, Daddy was cutting onions, and you know how terrible they are," Luke said, stroking his daughter's long hair. "Mean onions for making Mommy cry."
She seemed to be happy enough with that explanation, better than finding out something was actually wrong. "I want food," she said, "then play time. Please?" she gave them her biggest smile, bearing her teeth and everything. Luke looked across at Ally and smiled, he could hardly believe this. "Fine, but you have to get dressed first. We're not having you running about the beach in your pyjamas." "Of course," she said, looking at Luke with a roll of her eyes before making him let her down and scurried off towards the kitchen.
Luke turned back to Ally, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Definitely more adorable than the dog," he said with a grin, pulling her close.

Ally chuckled at Luke's excuse for her tears. He was probably a wonderful father, which made her love him so much more in that moment. They were the perfect little family. She had to wonder what became of her family now, if they accepted her again, treating her as equal as her brother. It wasn't worth the thought right now. Now was perfection and the dream she had always wanted.
"Go pick out what you wanna wear, and I'll be right up hun." Ally smiled at her little girl, reaching over to kiss her delicate forehead. She smelled like heaven. She then bound off, running with her small legs alongside the happy dog, upstairs. Ally turned into Luke's welcoming arms, wrapping her arms around his neck with a smirk. "Definitely", she repeated, reaching up to kiss his lips. Their child bound downstairs for a moment, exclaiming an 'ewww kissing' before running up again. Ally chuckled and kissed him harder, closing her eyes tightly with a smile.
Ally stirred, feeling the atmosphere change. She opened her eyes slowly, and found herself back in her room, apparently making out with her pillow. That would be an embarrassing sight to come upon. She let her eyes adjust to the darkness slowly, sitting up on her bed as she held her pillow close. "What...was that..." she asked herself, mind swimming in confusion. Her head was pounding, but she couldn't get over how incredibly real it felt. Luke's warmth, her tears, the smell of her daughter's hair. She closed her eyes tight, reliving the visions. had Luke dreamt the same thing? No...that would be impossible...wouldn't it?

Even though this was strange for both of them, they both seemed to be falling into the role of parent easily, like it was normal to them. It looked like Ally was going to be a fantastic mother, she would definitely connect with her daughter. Once their little girl had dived up the stairs, Ally came round to kiss him on the lips. He returned her kiss, placing his hands on her waist. He had to hold back a laugh when he heard the cry about them kissing being gross. "I..."
Luke's eyes flew open and he blinked, staring up at the dark grey ceiling of his sleeping quarters. So he had been dreaming. All the stuff about their house, the dog, their beautiful baby girl, it had been a dream, and yet he had been so aware of everything that was going on, like he was discovering it all for the first time, and Ally had been too. It was weird, so very weird.
After a couple of minutes of just lying there, trying to figure out exactly what had just happened, he threw his legs over the side of the bed and clambered onto his feet. He wanted to check something. Making his way across the common room, he knocked gently on Ally's door before hearing her voice and pushing the door open. She was sat up in bed looking confused. "Hey," he said quietly, taking a step inside the door, before closing it behind him, "did that really just happen?" If she knew what he meant then his question would make sense, he was sure of it.

She was swimming in her thoughts, almost drowning in them. She heard a knock at the door, then Luke's voice. She sucked her bottom lip for a moment before replying. She didn't exactly sleep in decent attire. Reaching over for a light jacket, she slipped it on before answering him. "Come in." She was slightly nervous about him entering. He had never been inside her room, and it cut down their boundaries significantly. Not that there were rules against it or anything, she just..wasn't expecting it.
He entered and she scooted over, letting him sit down next to her. "hey.." She echoed quietly back, pulling her knees up to her chest. "don't...tell me you had it too..." she whispered in return. Her heart almost stopped inside his chest. Had they actually shared a dream? It seemed unrealistic, crazy even, and yet, here they were discussing the impossibility of it all.

Luke hadn't been in Ally's room before, and she hadn't been in his. He couldn't understand why, seeing as they'd slept together twice now, he supposed it was something to do with personal space. When the door opened he saw that she'd tried to cover herself up, and he held back a smile. He'd seen her naked after all, seeing her in her pyjamas wouldn't exactly be shocking. All the same, he scooted over to sit beside her, still dressed in his jeans and t-shirt from his shift.
He nodded, half glad that she understood, but also weirded out at the same time. How was it possible for two people to share the same dream? "Yeah, I had it too," he said, looking across at her, "the beach house, and Sandy the dog, right?" he confirmed, just wanting to be completely sure. He couldn't fathom what had caused this. The only thing that was particularly out of the ordinary was the ship's proximity to a black hole, but even then, it couldn't distort their perception of time like that, could it? It was crazy.

Ally hadn't thought why she covered up, it was just habit. They had seen each other completely, not once, but twice, so there wasn't much to hide or leave to the imagination. It soon warmed up on her skin and she shrugged it off, tossing it to a far corner. She reached for his hand, making sure he was physically here this time.
She listened to him, as she explained he had the sam dream. He mentioned the dog, the home and....'What do you think we named her?" she asked quietly, fidgeting with the skin around her nails. She couldn't face him with this sort of question, couldn't even look him in the eyes. At this point, they hadn't even discussed children, or marriage. She was okay with their future where it stood. She loved Luke, he loved her, and nothing right now was going to rip them apart.

Luke squeezed her hand as it slid into his, looking across at the side of her head - she was facing away from him. She pretty much confirmed that they had been having the same dream with her question. Their daughter... she'd seemed so real, diving into Luke's arms like that. It felt right holding her there. "I don't know," he said, exhaling quietly, "I've always liked the name Grace. But, I probably would have gone with whatever you wanted," he added with a small smile.
Shuffling closer, he removed his hand from hers and wrapped his arm around her shoulder instead. It didn't matter that she was avoiding eye-contact, he just wanted to be close to her for that moment. That dream, or whatever it was, had come as quite of a shock, especially those cards. "I love you," he said quietly, pressing his lips into her hair. He didn't need to be married to her, or have a dog or kids with her, he was fine with just loving her, at least for now.

Luke would be a perfect father....if they ever got married of course. She wasn't sure if he would even propose. he might fall in love with someone else, night cheat. She didn't want to think on such things, but they had only been together for a few brief months. She loved him more than life itself now. And if he accepted his dreams, he would be the perfect, loving husband and father.
'I like Grace.." She answered with a certain tenderness. "Grace...Elaine...Martin." His last name was spoken low, and if he wanted to listen hard enough, he would hear it. Ally shifted into his shoulder, resting his hand on his chest, while her hand wandered circles around his back. "Do you want to spend the night?" she whispered softly, craning her neck up to look into his beautiful eyes. Sleep with our clothes on for once?" It was a legit point, even though no one else was are they had slept together. Personally, she was a fan of just waking up next to him, his breath with hers, his heartbeat, drumming her to sleep. She wished she could have it every night, but that was a bit of a stretch for now.

Luke could tell Ally's mind was drifting, contemplating everything, probably spiralling out of control if it was anything like his was, so just waited for her to reply. He was willing to just sit in silence for a while if that was what she wanted. Dealing with this was going to be a challenge, but they could if they worked together. He didn't want anyone else but her, that he knew for certain.
He heard the quiet Martin on the end and smiled a little. "I like it," he murmured. It fit perfectly. He closed his eyes for a moment as Ally's hand traced her finger along his back. He let out a soft chuckle at her suggestion, and although his first thought had been to ask if she was sure, his second was just, "I'd love to." Waking up next to her in the dream, although confusing at first, had been nice. He'd enjoyed it both times they had done it before that as well.
Shifting away for a moment, he pulled the covers back so that they could both fit under them, letting Ally lie down first on whatever side of the bed she was comfortable with, before positioning himself next to her, wrapping his arm around her so neither of them fell out of the bed. As he rested his head against the pillow, he took a long breath, relaxing. He could definitely get used to this.
"Good night."
