Jay stared attracted to the dimly lit screen held primitive inside his palm. The screen was no larger than his hand small enough to be held inside the center point of his hand while he could study the numbers quickly scrolling quickly from frame to frame. His arms were tucked against the table his frame leaning slightly inward towards the edge while the warm bridle of caff stimulated his senses making the atmosphere around him electrified with danger, tingling his awareness. Music began to pump through the cafeteria's speakers giving off a thrilling vibe causing some crew to even rock their shoulders while they shoveled sustenance into their greedy little mouths. Jay was completely wrapped in making sure the screen portrayed the scrolling information on time. However astounded; adamantly the music was curious as to the choice of the artist. Dangerously he tipped his eyes over the top edge.
Peering across the large room from his seat his eyes found the counter area where most food was served and under the ray lights bathing that particular area in lustrous gold no doubt baking the food splayed along the counters to tickle the ravish hunger symptom certain crew members suffered after working long shifts. His eyes danced from his first point of recognition down the counter to the PA system. The device in his palm tingled symbolizing that the page had reached its maximum and while it refreshed itself Jay found what he was looking for. One figure in kitchen white stood with their back turned out on the rest of the room their body shifting slightly with the hum. Legs moving before the other causing their body to sway. Jay had to disagree with the current music filtering through the speakers. Though he wasn't one to avidly complain.
Complaining wasn't in the playbook and while the faintest smirk parlayed the corners of his lips his conscience being played with the simple fact that dark melodies could sometimes be the most welcome, ironically confusing, it wasn't the most called for while surveying rookies in flight. One line of information caused him to take one quick uncertain glance, twice., causing his face to twitch. 'ERROR, RAV, 1,13.0, crash. Jay set the device down on the counter between him and the caff. Jay let out the sigh that he had been holding on to. His brain needed caffeine. Something to let him know that he was still awake. Sleep. His hand shot forward to the cup sitting inches from the right corner of the device in pure rabid disagreement. Someone needed to grade the pilots who missed the waypoints sitting inches before them.
Better him than some bitter drill sergeant hell bent on raping this poor kids out of their career. Bringing the cup to his lips he managed to drain some of its expensive aura before the device beeped three times causing the cup to fall from his lips, bounce off the side of the table, smack the floor and roll underneath impeded by the brown contents lying in a pool near his feet. He reacted. Quickly standing up brushing the hotness from his crotch. This was every ounce of excitement he could handle for one day. Coming to the realization that he wouldn't be anywhere near able to brush the scalding portion of his jeans away his shoulders settled at the base of his head and he whispered, "I pissed myself.", in an audible whisper just below the steady bass hum. He quickly looked towards the corner. Empty.
The karaoke machine stood naked against the far corner.
