Wally almost choked on the drink with her reaction. He'd just been kidding! He set his drink down quickly and reached over, trying to grab her wrist, not hard but gently. "No wait! Please. I was... I was just joking." He smiled, trying to show her how he wasn't serious at all.
"I wasn't telling the truth, your right, My dads a postal worker and my moms a home maker. I had to get a scholarship to go to college and when I got there I blew it..." He paused, waiting to see if she'd stay and listen. "Please, i'm sorry. I really am."
His eyes were pleading with her to stay.

Lizzy had to actively not grind her teeth. Wally's hand seized her wrist, and when she looked back at him, his eyes were apologetic. Honestly, she didn't know what she was doing here, why was she even considering staying? Taking her wrist back, she let out a sigh and stayed put, "fine. I don't know why, but fine, I'll stay." She was going to need more drink.
Pouring herself another centimetre of one of spirits into her glass, she looked back at him. "You blew it?" she asked, that being the key thing she'd remembered from what he'd said, "how?"

Wally smiled, glad that she stayed and when she pulled her wrist away he let her go but picked up the drink again. “Well, I found that I wasn’t big enough to actually play real college football in the states. So I turned to steroids. Needless to say eventually the effects turned harsh and I ended up dropping out all together. But it was actually a good thing. I found some really good friends and after while my pride got restored and I went back to school, this time paying my own way.”
He looked at her and smirked, “And my favorite thing about women aren’t boobs. I’m an ass man.”

Whoa, she hadn't been expecting that. You had to be a monstrous size to have any impact in football, and he was right, he wasn't big enough. But then again, she couldn't imagine him huge and running round after a flying ball, it just... didn't suit him. The personality however... the amount of testosterone, he definitely fit in from that point of view.
Shaking her head, she slapped him in the arm. "You're an ass man in more ways than one," she said, managing a smirk of her own. "For the record, I'm an arms girl. So if you want to have any hope of impressing me, you better show these limbs off more often." Where that had come from she had no idea, it was almost like stooping to his level. Maybe her sense of humour was finally meshing with his. The horror.
"What did you do instead of football?"

Wally gave a huge grin at that. He sat up straight and tugged the sleeve up of one of his shirts, flexing the mussel there. "Oh i've got ya covered there babe. These guns are all natural too. That's part of how I help people. They can look their best with hard work and sweat, no drugs."
He let his sleeve down then, "I'm tall too... when I'm at my full height. But i'm also pretty tall for a guy in a wheel chair." He was starting to try and sell himself now. He didn't know why but he really wanted Lizzy to like him.
"Instead? Hm. Well i've done some of everything. I like American Soccer a lot, and tennis. But my friends and I used to go hiking. I even did cliff jumping professionally for awhile. You'd be surprised how much someone is willing to pay to learn how to get an adrenaline rush." He tilted his head form side to side, making his neck crack.
"I used to do motocross too..."

Lizzy knew he'd react like that when she said what she said. Oh dear. Indulging him wasn't the best idea, but it made her laugh all the same. "Yuh-huh, sure you do." She had no doubt that he'd given up the drugs though. If it had ruined his first stab at University, then he wasn't stupid enough to let it continue spoiling things for him.
A smile spilt onto his face we he continued, so he had actually been listening before, he hadn't just fobbed off all that she'd said in order to get a joke in. Maybe there was something in his favour, he was actually interested in her. She had absolutely no idea why, but... eh, she guessed he wasn't so bad.
"Cliff jumping?" she couldn't help but look impressed at that, "never really thought about flinging myself off a twenty foot cliff." She'd probably just stand at the top, staring at the drop, shaking, then flat out refuse to go. The way he trailed off after the motocross thing suggested something more. "Is that how you...?" she trailed off as well. For a guy in a wheelchair, he certainly didn't act like it hindered him in any way, but she didn't know how sensitive he was talking about it.
"You know," she said, clearing her throat, "not trying to steal your thunder or anything, but I was in an accident too. Not all of this is what it seems," she said, gesturing to the top half of her body.

Wally leaned forward again, his hand playing with his empty glass as he considered what she said. Normally he'd say something smatass like 'How I what?' but he didn't want to offend or insult her again.
"Yeah. It was a pretty stupid mistake really, but it cost me. I'm actually trying to save up the surgery to get it fix but uh... it's taking awhile. Ten years so far, and i'm about three fourths of the way there."
He glanced up at her. He wondered if he actually could go through with the surgery if he could at this point. He was so used to being in the chair now.
"Really?" Now it was his turned to be surprised. "What kind of accident."

Lizzy nodded when he said he was saving up for the surgery. "Only another... three years to go?" She probably could have done the math more accurately than that, but it was an offering at optimism. If he could have the surgery, then it would probably be strange for him to be out of the chair after all that time.
"Yeah, plane crash," she said, "I was the only survivor." It probably sounded about as far-fetched as what he'd said before, but it was true, and she'd been damn lucky. Holding out her left arm towards him, and the left side of her body in general, she said, "they had to replace two ribs, my whole arm, a lung, my liver, and a kidney," she pointed to each of the parts in turn, letting him touch her arm if he wanted, the liver being the only thing on her right side, "with bioengineered parts. I'm lucky to be alive."

Wally listened intently and his eyes went wide "Oh wow!" He watched her show him the damage that had been done and he shook his head "Well you've got one up on me thats for sure." He poured her another drink once her glass was empty and topped his off.
"Well I dont know. We'll see. I have to pay for my living as well, and my other chair isn't cheep to maintain so if something ever happened to it i'd be out a good portion of that money."
He reached out to touch the arm she said had been replaced and stroked his pointer and middle finger up and down her forearm. "Can you feel this?" He asked, his voice somewhat tender as he looked to her face inquestion.

"Yeah, I suppose, either way, it's better to stay positive. It could happen someday." She smiled at him. Even if it didn't, she was sure he'd be fine in the chair. He worked it well, and it definitely didn't cramp his style whatsoever, or his confidence.
When he ran his fingers up and down her arm, she could have sworn she felt it tingle, the hairs on her other arm certainly stood on end. "Sometimes I like to think so," she said, "but no. It's fully functional as far as using it goes, but I can't feel anything in it, no pain or anything." Not even him touching her like that.
"How about you?" she asked, "can you feel anything in your legs at all?" she looked at him intently, actually curious.

Wally smiled, his fingers remaining on her arm for a long moment before he pulled back. He shook his head at that. "Nope. Nothing in my legs. But I do want to make one thing clear." He leaned forward, "I still have full functionality of my penis." With that he wiggled his eyebrows and took another drink.

Lizzy actually facepalmed this time. "Wally Wells," she shook her head, "I honestly don't know what to do with you." She was getting more used to his jokes now. The sad thing was, he may have the use of his penis, but her uterus... gone forever. That wasn't something he needed to know right now. Taking another drink, she said, "okay, lighter topic," she said, folding her arms on the counter, "favourite type of music and, can you sing?"

Wally laughed when she slapped her face with her hand. She was getting better at taking his sense of humor. He downed his drink and poured another. “Well, I guess I like some punk rock, and the usual stuff. I don’t know. I know they’re kind of oldies but I’m into Queen a lot and Journey…” He hesitated, “And I do sing sometimes… in the shower. I did karaoke drunk once and um… saw a video after and now I don’t… sing infront of people…ever.” He grinned and stuck out his tongue a little.
“How about you?”

"Journey," she repeated with a grin, "I adore all the old stuff. Anything with lyrics and a good beat really. And yes, I can sing, drunk or not. But if you think you're getting a demonstration, then you've got another thing coming." She used to sing in front of her family, and do karaoke with friends to raucous applause. She wasn't the best singer in the world, but she was good, she knew that much. As for him, maybe she could tease a performance out of him at some point, see how bad he really was.
She returned his grin, poking her tongue out as well before topping up her glass. So much for just one. "Argh, your turn to come up with a question."

Wally shook his head, "I wouldn't say never though love. I havn't met a woman that i've liked that I havnt gotten to sing... in one way or another." He winked then and shived on the stood. His butt was starting to fall alseep. He'd started getting lazy and staying in his chair more than he should. Maybe a new friend could help him find some new places to stretch his legs in a sense.
"Hmmm... ok, do you like carrots or peas better? What was the worst relationship you've ever had? Who was the best?" He smirked, "Would you ever date a guy in a wheelchair?"
