Mission 002 - Extinguishing the Fire
You have been provided with two vehicles - both carry tanks of compressed H20 which can be used to extinguish the fire. Each tank has it's own jettison system, where water can be sprayed from it via its controls, but it also has it's own separate pipe which can be used by hand. Each vehicle needs two people to man it - one to drive and one to operate the pump.
The vehicles should enable to maneouvre easily around the woodland area where the fires are occurring and get to places that the larger ships and vehicles cannot. ------------- It was utter chaos in Franklin with the wild fires raging like nothing Will had ever seen before. It wasn't clear whether they'd been set off deliberately, or whether it was accidentally, but the unseasonably warm weather wasn't helping, and current lack of rain. Natalie was off helping with the evacuations while Will stuck with the fire fighting team, seeing as he knew how to use the equipment. He'd given Luke, Ciara and Katy a crash course in it only fifteen minutes ago. They were going to have to do the best they could with the knowledge they had.
Everything was moving quickly, and Luke was just about managing to keep up. He didn't know why this was all happening, but he was focused on the task at hand - helping to extinguish this fire before anyone was killed, or more people were injured. Will had taken charge as per usual, just about managing to put up with witty retorts and comments that had come from Katy's direction, showing them how to use these vehicles with fire fighting capabilities. They were amazing inventions, and perfect for this. Luke couldn't wait to get in one and get going.
"All right ladies, Luke," Will said, looking at their small group, heading over to one of the vehicles as Luke went over to the other, "buddy up and let's get going."

Katy was having too much fun with this. It was a bit of a dream, after all-- they got big vehicles, complete with nozzles to spray foamy stuff, to drive around and basically drench the town. She'd been quipping around, annoying the heck out of mostly everyone, until they actually got going. She decided to hop over to Luke, seeing as he knew her a little better, and wasn't quite as serious as Will.
"Drive or shoot?" she asked him cheerily. She had a coin somewhere, she was sure, that they could have flipped, if rock-paper-scissors failed, but she decided to let him take a pick. "Or do we play games to see who wins?"
She waved to Ciara, who was hopping in the vehicle with Will. She didn't think she had worn heels this time, though with Ciara, you never knew. That girl could do anything in heels. She waved cheerfully at Will as well, hoping he wasn't too mad at her, and turned back to her vehicle. She wondered vaguely how fast it was able to go, and who would get mad at her for trying to find out.

If it weren't for the fact that they had to do this in order to save lives, it had the potential to be fun. However, knowing the seriousness and urgency of the matter, Ciara had managed to tune down her usually bubbly and perky personality as she listened to Will explain what they had to do.
It sounded pretty straightforward--one person drives, the other mans the H20 canon, and by working together they'd be able to set out the fire fairly quickly. At least, that was the theory. All they had to do now was prove it right, which, if they managed to cooperate, they would.
When Will told them to split up into pairs, Ciara watched as Katy bounded away to partner up with Luke, and so the red-headed woman turned to Will. Despite his hardened shell, she could tell that there was a truly wonderful person behind it. Natalie certainly seemed to think so, anyway.
"Looks like we're together!" she said redundantly, grinning at him. "Do you want to drive? I don't think I'd trust myself behind the wheel, to be honest. I've never driven anything of this size before, and I don't think I'd be able to handle it well. A water canon, on the other hand, I think I could manage. Sound like a plan?"

Katy immediately made a bee-line for Luke, which made Will let out a sigh of relief. If he'd had to deal with Katy for this whole thing, fighting her with a sword of wit and snark, he probably would have burst a blood vessel or something. Ciara, although perky, would be a lot easier to work with, she could take direction better, he'd seen that already.
"Looks we are," he said, managing to lift his grouchy persona for a moment to offer her the smallest of smiles. "Deal," he agreed, glad that she'd just managed to manage herself into the appropriate position, it made his job a lot easier. "Climb on in then," he instructed, gesturing to the canon, offering her a hand if she needed it.
Once Ciara was in, Will jumped in the front seat, using the bar across the top of the driver's area to hoist himself in. These things didn't have seat belts in the front, so that was probably another good thing that he was driving, he was less likely to break something if he fell out of the vehicle, Luke too it seemed.
Tapping his comms so the other two could hear, he said, "you guys head East, we'll head West, and we'll attack this fire from both sides. Focus on buildings, don't try to tackle anything that you don't think you can handle, keep in contact at all times. And good luck." With that, and one last check to make sure that Ciara was secure, he started the engine and set off, pulling into a right hand turn before setting off into the trees.

Katy bounded over to him, and Luke wasn't surprised. After all, they'd spent a couple of hours on the flightdeck laughing about Monty Python and other crazy stuff the other day, having Katy with him would probably keep things amusing at least; he had a feeling this was going to be fun for her.
"You're talking to a pilot, sweetheart," he said, "drive, obviously." As hilarious as playing a game to decide would have been, the longer they took getting started, the further the fire would spread, and they needed to get this sorted as soon as they could before any lives were lost. No one should have to die because they were playing rock, paper scissors.
Luke climbed into the driver's seat and started the engine. He hadn't driven anything smaller than the Venia in a while now, so it was going to take a moment to get used to how small it was. Gripping the steering wheel, he looked round at Katy, "ready? Firmly attached to vehicle? We don't want you flying out now do we?"
