Due to his obsolete and faulty cybernetic eye, Owen experiences severe migraines and short bouts of blindness especially under severe stress. He tries to make due with it but he knows it won’t last much longer and may take his other eye with it when it shuts down.

History: Owen was born in Monroeville, Pennsylvania the oldest of three children. His father was very loving to him but his mother was distant and neglecting toward him. When he was six, his brother was born but to Owen and his father‘s surprise she treated him like a prince. On his tenth birthday his sister was born and two days later his parents divorced due to “irreconcilable differences.” They decided to split the children with Owen going with his father but the other two staying with their mother. He and his father moved off of Earth to Beta Cygni to get away from all the stress and drama in his mother’s extended family.
Owen was a slightly above average student in school excelling in his mathematics courses. He was very interested in technology often taking things apart to see how they work. Because of this his father took him on many of his maintenance jobs to help teach him and to let him practice on broken things.
When he was eighteen he started working with his father getting paid under the table since he didn’t have any formal training in his field. He saved most of his money so he could pay for engineering classes to advance his passion. After three years he finally had enough money to get into a local technical college.
Owen graduated in the top ten percent of his class and was offered a job working maintenance at UGAP. After a few months on the job, he proved himself to be very good at his job netting him more complex and secretive repair jobs in the facility. He was called to fix what appeared to be a malfunctioning computer in a highly restricted branch. When he started working on the computer it thought it was being tampered with and launched a failsafe to fry itself with a small controlled explosion launching bit’s of shrapnel into Owen’s right eye blinding him.
UGAP couldn’t risk Owen giving out any classified information he could have seen on the computer they released him from his contract but in a form of reparation for his injury they paid for a very cheap prototypical cybernetic ocular implant and gave him a lowly maintenance position on the Venia.
Random Facts: His eye has no special properties it just allows him to see normally.
He is quite good with technology but better with smaller appliances.
He just cleans and fixes anything too small for the folks in engineering to worry about.
RP Sample: Owen stood in the mess hall mop in hand staring at a large puddle of vomit on the floor. He sighed and started to mop away the putrid puddle. ‘How did I manage to get hear,’ he asked thought to himself, ‘I was once a decently paid maintenance man slash engineer but now I’m just a janitor mopping puke off the floor of a starship… guess that’s what I get for agreeing to do classified work for the government. At least they gave me this job instead of outright firing me I guess. I could go without this damn eye though damn thing can be more troublesome than helpful.’
Owen had half of the puddle mopped up when his head started to hurt. He held his head and sat at the table hoping it would pass quickly. “This is the worst one yet…” he muttered as he hunched over a little. His cybernetic eye began to scramble until it shut down. “Wha-what’s happening,” he said as what was left of his vision blurred and darkened, “I-I can’t see?!” He stood looked around frightened, hoping in vain for his vision to return immediately. Unable to take the stress of his sudden blindness he passed out on the floor.
