Eva found coming back to the Venia rather like she imagined seeing a ghost of a loved one would feel. Walking down the familiar halls, seeing faces she had thought she would never lay eyes upon again. She'd spent a goodly portion of her day setting up her office--the thought of having her own office was still rather peculiar--in Tactical, save for the couple of hours she'd spent down in the kitchen with Sam, but now she needed to unpack her clothing and other belongings.
As she neared the common room doors, however, she decided that what she really needed was to just kick back and relax for a while. She could always move into her room tomorrow, or the day after. It didn't really matter. Tonight, she just wanted to curl up and watch something on the holo. The notion made her smirk. A couple of years ago, such a mundane thought would have had her on the floor with tears of laughter streaking her face. The last year had civilianized her.
After wrestling through her suitcases to find some pyjamas, Eva changed down and wandered back out into the common room and settled down on the couch. Then, curling her legs up against her chest and propping her chin on her knees, she was about to reach for the remote when she got the distinct feeling of being watched. She started slightly upon realizing that there was another girl in the room. Huh. And she thought she was sneaky.
"Er, hi there," Eva started stiltedly when the dark-haired woman didn't speak. "I'm Evangeline Irvine, the new Chief Tactical Officer. Mostly people just call me Eva." After another moment of prolonged silence she tacked on, "So, uh... who're you?"

Well this was new. Joining the crew was completely different than everything than she had ever expected. All too often she considered and RE considered what she was doing. People...more people than she actualy could deal with, or even know what to do with. Computers. Right, that was her reason for being here. She would survive here...hopefully. With a laden sigh, Katherine curled up on a couch in the common room. She would have been in her cave like room, save for the lack of light it gave off. She plugged her headphones in and scrolled through her music playlist to find a song to drown out the noise in the room from the AC and shuffling of people coming and going. She was here only for the lighting and nothing more. Once she settled in with her music, she began to fade out and directly link up her laptop to the Venia upload. When it finished it's long lengthy process, she would begin coding a day of head of time and sync into it's methods of information. Sure she could enjoy her first day, making friends, socializing, but that simply wasn't her thing. she didn't come here to find friends or love or anything remotely sociable. She came here for work and the fact that she could do with the credits in her bank account. This place definitely paid well. Not that she would even have a use for it when they made port. Katherine closed her eyes and rested her head on the back of the couch, falling deeper into her music. Something was off. The peace wasn't there. An interruption. She opened her green eyes and turned to a woman trying to talk to her from the other side of the room. She sighed internally, but none the less heavy and pulled one ear down to catch the remnants of hr words. "Katherine Haddock...Computer specialist."
