London, England
13th April 2457
"What part of ‘we’re on a break’, did you not understand?”
"Oh, I understood you, darling, loud and clear.”
"Break, Will! Break is the operative word! As in, we’re off now, but we’ll be back on again!”
"How the hell was I supposed to know that? For all I knew, that night could have been the end of the relationship; I could have never seen you again.”
"Don’t make excuses.”
"I’m not, Liz!”
"Yes, yes you are! You’re trying to justify what you’ve done!”
"And what was that?”
"You freaking well know what, Will. I said we were on a break and two weeks later, you’ve slept with half of our floor!” Lizzy yelled, throwing her hair dryer across the room.
Will ducked, his eyes wide as it crashed to the floor. "That’s ridiculous!”
"Oh yeah? So Carrie, and Jennifer, and Olivia, they’re all lying? Boasting about you in the common room while I was sat a table able, well within hearing range.”
"They’re bitches, Liz.”
"I know that already, Will, but what you’re not doing is telling me whether there is any truth behind what they were saying!”
Will looked uncomfortable. Lizzy was furious, snarling, ready to pounce.
"Oh God,” she said, "they are telling the truth, aren’t they?”
"Not Jennifer,” he said, "and not Carrie but...” he sighed.
Lizzy felt her throat go dry. "You slept with Olivia?”
Will nodded silently.
She took a deep breath, her arms going up in the air, then coming back down again, tears in her eyes. "Oh God, oh God...”
"What was I supposed to think, Lizzy?” he said, honestly, "that night when you said we needed a break, some time apart, it was after two weeks of arguing. I thought it was over. Honest to God I did.”
"That doesn’t change the fact that you cheated, Will.”
He buried his head in his hand. "I know.”
"I can’t trust you anymore.”
"No, Liz, don’t say that.”
"I can’t, Will, you hurt me,” she sniffed, "you really hurt me, and I can’t... I just... I can’t look at you.” She shook her head then moved off, beginning to pick up her things.
"Liz, you can’t leave.”
"Watch me.”
He walked over to her, attempting to grab her arms. "Liz, no, stop.”
Lizzy fought him off, batting his hands away, but he got the upper hand, seizing her forearms in his firm grip. "Let go.”
"No.”
"Will, let go damn it.” She tried to wrench her arms away his grasp but he only pulled her closer. "Will, please.”
"I made a stupid mistake,” he said, forcing her to look directly at him, "I shouldn’t have done it.”
"It’s too late.” His grip lightened, and she pulled her arms away, continuing to pack her stuff while he took a few steps back, wracking his brains, trying to think of something.
"How can I get you to stay?”
"You can’t.”
"Come on, Liz, there must be something.”
She zipped up the bag, slinging it over her shoulder, looking up at him. His eyes were red, he looked desperate, helpless. "Three words.”
"What?”
"Say those three words. Those three special words, and mean it. Then I’ll stay.”
Will stood with his mouth open, staring at her. There was a long silence. He slowly closed his mouth.
"I didn’t think so.”
All Will could do was watch as the door slammed closed behind her.[/font][/blockquote]
